There is no technical reason why you cannot partition an SSD. Whether there is any point comes down to the useage case, which if you had read the OP you would have seen that there is a benefit to the user to use partitions.
AFAIK there won't be any negative to running two single drives in RAID but that's not the point, it should work in AHCI. It's stuff like this which annoy me with OEM machines. Always these type of random niggles which just shouldn't happen and don't happen on whiteboxes.
My hunch is it won't. Personally, I never use OEM OS installs and always install a clean copy myself. If you feel the same you could diskpart clean the 1TB and connect it as the secondary HDD and boot from the SSD to see if it appears in device manager. That'll rule out any weird conflict...

Have you gone through all your BIOS settings to make sure there isn't some stupid setting like "SATA port disabled"? I have seen settings like this and would explain the symptoms you have.
Can you enable the hardware encryption without Magician? I forgot that one, if not, then you need Magician for that as well.

Samsung don't publish SSD firmwares in ISO format on their global downloads page anymore so unless they're hidden away somewhere else Magician is the only way to do firmware updates.
Windows 10 comes with a built in USB3 driver but you can check the Dell website to see if they have released a specific USB3 driver for your laptop.

GPT brings more to the table than just partition size limits. If you want to use the secure boot feature of Windows 8 and up then you need to use GPT. Also if you want to disable CSM (compatibility support module) in your UEFI for a faster boot you also need to use GPT.

The main differentiator is endurance. The Pro uses MLC NAND which is more durable (aka, it can be written to more times) than TLC NAND used in the EVO. Unless you run a write intensive workload it's highly unlikely you will need MLC NAND.

There is no logic to having a 16GB page file. Windows 7 mirrors the size of the RAM and the page file and I used to change it to 1024-2048MB.
I can't speak for Windows 8 because I avoided it but Windows 10 has set my page file to 2GB based on 8GB. If it isn't already, I would set it to 2GB.
Windows is highly customisable. I have a whole raft of customisations I do and things I change/disable on a clean format to get it how I like it. If you don't use indexing or instant search in things like Outlook you can leave Windows Search disabled and probably won't even notice.

Windows can be very easy to break and very difficult to fix. If you can't be bothered to reformat you can just keep Windows search disabled. I think it only really affects indexing and things like instant search in Outlook.

You should use an AV drive. I forget where I read this now but it was on a white paper from one of the major HDD manufacturers that normal SATA drives are only "rated" for 8 hours of operation per day. Now obviously many people run them 24/7 but how long a nornal drive will last in a DVR...
