My first water project. *Work in progress - Lots of pics warning*

On a side note, I just read Eddy's official statement on EK's nickel flaking. Not happy about it at all since I have a full nickel Supreme HF. Wondering if maybe I should get rid of it and grab something else now :( Don't want to hook this all up just to have to tear it down and inspect the...

The tubing is Primochill Pro LRT 3/8-5/8. Just from working with it so far it feels like rubber and not vinyl. As far as the smooth radius, would you do something different than the 2 90's on the res and pump? I could change them to 45's, but the tube would then have to take an upward turn...

Thanks for the confirmation :) I really didn't want to have to run the tube like that, but looks like that's the only option. Same with the rad to rad tube :( I'm sure about $50 more in fittings could fix the rad problem though, lol. Probably something I'll do down the road. Will finish up...

Well the good news (I guess.. sigh) is that the 45's to connect the two rads didn't work out. I ran the tubing for the rad connection and the pump to PSU side rad just now and it just wouldn't work out. So I wound up having to run the tubes from straight compressions in a big arc through the...

Got back to work today after the GF's computer is back up and running. Nothing worth taking pictures of, just test fitted the radiators with the spacers and then rinsed out the rads with boiling water and distilled. Also got a feel for how I was going to route the tube between the two rads...

    Most fun, headache free case

Most fun case I've ever owned is a 3700BQE that looked like someone played forklift soccer with it. Of course in that case, fun was an acronym for "F*** U Newegg!!" I gotta find a pic of that somewhere, I only had tiny ones from a dated cellphone, but damn theyre hilarious.

HOT! XFX Radeon HD5770 - $75AR/FS at Newegg

Hard for me to swallow that many negative reviews on that card. It's just odd. I have the same version of the 5850 and have had zero problems with it. I did notice many of the reviews complaining about it screwing up sound drivers. If it's anything like my 5850, when you use the sound for the...

Well I survived. Internet and electric got owned though. Have to finish converting an old PC into working condition for the gf the next few days and then hopefully I can get back to my build. ( I wish she would read this so she could see me say "SEE HONEY, you DO need the...

You can leave the pics up, it's fine. Someday somebody might stumble on this thread and get some answers they need :) Are you talking about the heatsinks though? When you originally asked for the pic I assumed it was because of the thread at XS about stuffing wires between the pumps. From...

Heh, no worries. Will get the pic tomorrow. Been without internet for the better part of 2 days and power was out for a bit. God bless the Midwest. Nothing compared to all those poor people in Joplin, MO though.

Aigo, pic might have to wait till tomorrow.. terrible weather here and I'm just using the last of the battery in the laptop. Those mounts don't have screws that go all the way through them. It may appear like it, but the screw that goes into the bottom is completely decoupled from the...

A little more work today. Cried a few big man-tears and picked up the drill and slowly pointed it towards my $400 baby. Pumps are mounted and the Iandh clamps are in. The clamps look a bit crooked in the pic, but that's because I drilled holes with a little wiggle room to make adjustments...

Thanks for the tip. I was wondering if that would be the case, yet somehow talked myself into believing it was dumb logic, lol. Would it matter if the res was mounted in the spot pictured, then the tubing was run through one of the bottom wire management holes below the motherboard and...

My first water project. *Work in progress - Lots of pics warning*

Here's an extremely ghetto MS-paint mock-up of the tubing runs. Laugh away, lol. Here's how I planned the loop: Res > through to PSU side > pumps > PSU side rad > MB side rad > CPU block > chipset block > VGA block > Res The main concern I have here is whether water will easily flow...

My first water project. *Work in progress - Lots of pics warning*

Well the hands healed up enough to destroy them some more today, so I got to work again. Second rad is tapped and assembled, mounted the DDC's into the EK dual top, and the spacers from Caselabs arrived today. Spent a couple of hours, didn't get a whole lot done, but hey, progress is progress...

I was in the same boat. I looked at quite a few cases. Checked out the MM Pinnacle, DangerDen Doublewides, LD PC-V8, and none of them really grabbed my attention like this one did. Their support has been worth half the case's price alone as well. Really hard to justify $300 for an 800D when...

My first water project. *Work in progress - Lots of pics warning*

I'll try to take a good pic of both sides tomorrow and ghetto up a plan in paint to show how I planned on running the tubes. My biggest "issue" I guess you could call it, is that the reservoir has to fit under the DVD drive(s) yet somehow still be high enough above the pump to let the water flow...

Thank ya :) Unfortunately after that tedious re-tapping process and putting in all the silicon isolators, my fingers are coming apart real nice lol. Still trying to figure out the Res -> pump routing. Once I get that figured out I can really get going. It's just looking like the tube...

Little progress today. I managed to find a metric hand tap set at Sears. I took it home and got to work on one of the rads. Needless to say, I'll probably never do this again, lol. Royal pain in the (rated G substitute here). The Koolance screws weren't helping either. Don't know if it was...

    Arctic Silver Ceramique 2????

It isn't the easiest thing in the world to spread, but I always looked at it as a once and done type of thing. I didn't mind spending a few extra minutes getting a good thin layer, and it never seems to dry up or need re-applied after long periods of time. I just took apart an old AMD Winchester...

    Arctic Silver Ceramique 2????

I was just browsing through FrozenCPU in my spare time and noticed this on their new products page. I had no idea this was coming out, and honestly I'm really excited to use it. Loved the original Ceramique, used it for almost everything. Still have a 22g tube I've had for years and it works as...

Looks like I'll be getting a spacer to clear the problematic recesses from Caselabs. I'm kind of tossing around the idea of re-tapping the rads to M4 as well. I've never re-tapped anything before, so not entirely sure if I want to do this yet. Also not sure if I can just go at the holes with...

Must play games from the last 2-3 years?

That's all the parts for now. Trying to tell myself I have the money for QDC's, but most likely that will be a future addition to the rig. Also have no idea where I would put them as I haven't entirely worked out my loop design. Still test fitting parts. In the meantime I stripped down the...

Figured I'd port this in from one of my private forums. Just wanted to have a publicly visible log of my project for friends/family to see. As this is ported, it may be dumbed down a little due to lower tech knowledge levels of those that it was originally targeted towards. Just keep that in...

Does it get any better than Antec 900?

Second vote for the Lian-Li/Lancool K62 or K## series. Love mine. Plenty of room, great cable management (hell no to the 900/1200 Antec's for cable management), and great airflow if you're willing to tinker a bit. I swapped all the fans in mine for Yate Loon mediums for a good...

Must play games from the last 2-3 years?

So due to school/work/life I've missed out on a lot of games the last few years, and I'm looking to hit up Steam for some of those "must-have" titles that I missed in their time. I have a preference for shooters, but there's others I have enjoyed in the past from other genres. I mostly just play...

Couple of H20 questions before final order. (Parts list as well)

I know the trick, however my PSU 24-pin is sleeved and I can't see the wire colors. I could just count pins, but rather than blindly trust a count, I figured it'd be easier to just snag the starter connector and be done with it. Plus I figure as this is my first water build, I'll be screwing...

Couple of H20 questions before final order. (Parts list as well)

Just an informative bump for anyone that may wind up looking for the same thing I was for radiator fan dampening. I found these at sidewinders and they do indeed match up with the 15mm spacing MCR320's http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/thtr3xregafo.html Significantly cheaper than the...

Overkill may be the name of the game-H2O gurus chime in

I think what he was trying to say was that splitting a loop like that will cause flow inconsistency. The way I always understood it was that flow will take the path of least resistance leaving you with one part of the loop with a lesser flow rate. I could be wrong here though.
