Check out Handy backup (www.handybackup.net), I've used it for some time and it works great. Secondcopy 2000 is ok, but it isn't updated often(last updated 2000??).
Try using Madboot, it has two different tools for partitioning drives over 80 GBs.
If you downloaded the updated version of Fdisk, it will also can partition drives over 80GBs(not really sure what the limit is, but it will do 80 GB drives).

That error is because of your networking files/settings(corrupt file or something), try reinstalling all the Network protocols, and adapters.
You shouldn't need drivers for you CDrom unless you are booting from a dos floppy disk, if that is the case you can download a premade boot disk like...

Download Madboot and find out, I have installed windows XP many times using Madboot(Madboot).
Prefer to use the windows XP CD, because it seems like its faster then with Madboot, but does work just fine without booting from the CD or using four XP boot disks.
Try Madboot(Madboot.com), but I think the current version only supports reading from NTFS drives, not writing to them.
Why not use FAT32? Sounds to me like you have a bad windows XP CD.

I use Gdisk, and it's really fast. You can do a quick format on a new drive, unlike fdisk.
Download, Madboot it has gdisk, and a nice GUI menu thingy:)
