  1. Question Qualcomm's first Nuvia based SoC - Hamoa

Where was it said that it was ported to ARM instead of running x86 version emulated?
  2. Question AMD Phoenix/Zen 4 APU Speculation and Discussion

Their naming scheme is clear as mud.
  3. News AMD 3Q23 Results

When it comes to consumer PCs AMD and Intel currently have duopoly cartel going on. That's about to break when others can flood the market with their own ARM Windows machines. There's going to be competition and things can change rather quickly. It would be a really good thing if current...
  4. 8GB VRAM not enough (and 10 / 12)

He is - FSR native is is garbage in motion and this game is no exception.
  5. Discussion Apple Silicon SoC thread

    I don't see M3 doing any better.
  6. Question Qualcomm's first Nuvia based SoC - Hamoa

Their DX12 driver is likely trash tier so I doubt that they are getting maximum out of it. Still, surprisingly good performance in Control all things considered (x86 emulation, drivers and probably zero optimisations from game side).
  7. Question Qualcomm's first Nuvia based SoC - Hamoa

I doubt that. Almost certainly just driver issue since 8 Gen 2 has ray tracing support.
  8. Question Qualcomm's first Nuvia based SoC - Hamoa

Sure but the point is that for quite a few the software support is a non issue and things are improving. Also X Elite is pretty ideal CPU for my use case. So, at least they got are covered now. Big things need to happen before ARM chips have any place in gamer's rigs and powerful workstations...
  9. Question Qualcomm's first Nuvia based SoC - Hamoa

I disagree completely. I could right now replace my work laptop with it and continue working like nothing happened (well, it would be much faster than my Renoir laptop though). Node.js, VSCode, WSL2... That's pretty much all I need. Things are improving and more and more native software is...
  10. Question Qualcomm's first Nuvia based SoC - Hamoa

Sure. Performance is another thing entirely though.
  11. Question Qualcomm's first Nuvia based SoC - Hamoa

We'll see about that. The thing if you end up alone, you'll loose. If other companies flood the market with ARM CPUs for Windows and if those have benefits (performance/efficiency)... Things could change rather quickly. Currently the reason (or has been) why PC CPU market is duopoly is that...
  12. Question Qualcomm's first Nuvia based SoC - Hamoa

Well, if NVIDIA will indeed start churning out ARM CPUs for PCs that have excellent performance, things might change rather quickly. Maybe this is the snow ball that starts the avalanche.
  13. Question Qualcomm's first Nuvia based SoC - Hamoa

    They did mention. ;)
  14. Question Qualcomm's first Nuvia based SoC - Hamoa

Oh wow... I wasn't expecting this.
  15. Question Qualcomm's first Nuvia based SoC - Hamoa

Performance comparison slides (from the Anandtech article): But single threaded performance... that I'd like to know.
  16. Question Qualcomm's first Nuvia based SoC - Hamoa

Currently I pay 17,90 € / month (inc. 24 % VAT) and it includes unlimited messages, calls and 4G data up to 150 Mbit/s. Generally speaking, the more you pay the better speeds you get.
  17. Question Qualcomm's first Nuvia based SoC - Hamoa

Finland. Cheap unlimited mobile data has been a thing here since 3G. This is a large country for 5M but mobile network covers pretty much the whole country. It makes much sense to use that since they aren't going to build fibre network to your summer cottage for free.
  18. Question Qualcomm's first Nuvia based SoC - Hamoa

Sure. It would be great if we finally got competitive third player for Windows ecosystem. Also I just realised that there's pretty much nothing that would stop me from using ARM machine as work machine (although it would be kinda nice if Chrome would finally release native version...). All...
  19. Question Qualcomm's first Nuvia based SoC - Hamoa

Marketing. But that being said, it's probably competitive.
  20. Question Qualcomm's first Nuvia based SoC - Hamoa

X Elite specs apparently. (FLOPS should be TFLOPS.)
  21. Discussion Intel Meteor, Arrow, Lunar & Panther Lakes Discussion Threads

Intel should have skipped this refresh. I fail to see any point in this. Well, at least perf/w graphic will look rather nice when comparing futures stuff to this garbage.
  22. Discussion Google Tensor G3

Pixel 7 Pro and 8 Pro should be apples to apples. S22 (Exynos) actually ran the game at much lower resolution than what it should be unless one manually override that using Samsung game plugins. That wasn't the case with S23 so I guess they cheated since GPU was so lacklustre. Other...
  23. Discussion Google Tensor G3

Pretty horrible in real life gaming: No improvement what so ever. In fact, it's worse than G2.
  24. Question FSR 3.0 - AMD's Answer to DLSS 3.0 has landed

Well, he said the same thing. :D Seem to just make experience worse in current form. I don't even know why they released it like this. The only thing it improves is framerate counter (actual gaming experience be damned).
  25. Question Speculation: RDNA3 + CDNA2 Architectures Thread

Interesting... Exynos 2400 will indeed use RDNA3 instead of RDNA2. https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-showcases-groundbreaking-logic-innovations-at-system-lsi-tech-day-2023 The bad stuff? It apparently can't beat Snapdragon 8 Gen 2...

  27. Question Qualcomm's first Nuvia based SoC - Hamoa

They should force hardware vendors to write ARM drivers if they want their stuff signed (for new products). That should help...
  28. DLSS 3.5 has issues

Speak for yourself. I get it, you absolutely love low res cube maps, screens space reflections that disappear completely when you happen to just look down, weird glow, light leakage, disconnected shadows and other stuff since you always then to shouting how much you love ancient rendering tech...
  29. 8GB VRAM not enough (and 10 / 12)

In any case though, A770 matching 4060 Ti 16GB is pretty great result.
  30. 8GB VRAM not enough (and 10 / 12)

A770 beating RTX 3080: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/cyberpunk-2077-phantom-liberty-benchmark-test-performance-analysis/5.html Btw, ignore RTX 4000 series results for now since those apparently had DLSS frame gen enabled accidentally. But... that might not even be VRAM limitation.
  31. News Intel GPUs - Battlemage officially announced, evidently not cancelled

Wouldn't it be funny if this only had XeSS? I wouldn't actually even mind since the latest version running generic path is way ahead of FSR2.
  32. Discussion Intel Meteor, Arrow, Lunar & Panther Lakes Discussion Threads

Really looking forward to what Meteor Lake has to offer. It's definitely going to be very important and interesting launch for Intel. Kinda like with Core Duo launch (and the next thing after is the real deal). Not saying that Arrow Lake is going to be new Core 2 but it's interesting to see how...
  33. Starfield CPU & GPU limited, once again DX12/Vulkan fails to deliver

It's very true. Of course they have made improvements but it is very obvious to see what the foundation really is.
  34. Starfield CPU & GPU limited, once again DX12/Vulkan fails to deliver

Also the reason why you see loading screens constantly. The basics haven't really changed since Morrowind and it shows.
  35. Question USB connects/disconnects constantly

It took over two years to fix the USB issues I had. Latest BIOS has pretty much fixed it all (I think). It was really rough at first though...

  37. Discussion [WCCFTech] What’s Up With The Missing NVIDIA DLSS Support In AMD Sponsored FSR Titles?

They finally added DLSS and frame generation to Jedi Survivor. Native: FSR: DLSS quality: Looks really good and stable. FSR is over sharpened (which causes aliasing), lacks fine detail and is there's flickering. DLSS and native do not use any sharpening which is good - it's impossible to...
  38. Poll: Do you care about ray tracing / upscaling?

Judging by https://www.techpowerup.com/review/starfield-fsr-2-2/ test, it might be just how the FSR2 looks like in this this game. It can look surprisingly bad at times, even when everything is still, which is rather weird. But hey, Jedi Survivor got DLSS support today (and more...
  39. Discussion Intel current and future Lakes & Rapids thread

Hardware Unboxed shows different results where Intel offers superior performance. Also memory bandwidth limitation is a myth. 13900K would beat 7800X3D even with DDR4. Zen 3 did really poorly here... Hard to believe that this is AMD sponsored game - maybe they didn't care about the CPU part...
  40. Poll: Do you care about ray tracing / upscaling?

You are stuck at thinking that rasterisation, which is in itself is just as fake as frame interpolation, is the only true way to render graphics (and at native resolution only). Ray tracing is the future and it will solve many issues and makes things simpler. Denoisers need to improve but it...
