my comp recognizes my 15GB hard drive as an 8 GB, how do i fix this?

Did you just put the drive in the sstem now after 2 years or was it in the system for the whole 2 years?

Depending on your MB a BIOS update may fix the problem if this is a newly installed drive. If it was recognized correctly in this system before you formatted it then try doing an FDISK. You may also want to manually configre the HD in the BIOS to see if that resolves the problem

I'd say the cable is probably bad. try another cable. 50' is nowhere near the max llenght so that should not be an issue. since the host has a connection without issue it is between the 2 local machines. It is possible the host is dumping packets but unlikely. so that only leaves the NICs adn...

Friend has a problem and i want a second openion on it..

Not enough info to make a determination. What happend in the days and hours prior to the problem. what changes were made to the system recently. Any power outages/spikes recently. Antivirus programs running or ran. any other porblems besides this.???? I'd say put a multimeter on the batery to...

Wierd Problem, No Signal Going to monitor when I turn on computer.

Does it appear to boot into windows? When you removed the CMOS battery did you also have the power removed form the MB or PS? after resetting the BIOS, remove and reinstall the video card. Based on what you've said so far it's leaning to the Video card.

If you have one, put a PCI vid card in it and see if you get a signal. Did you flash the BIOS recently? May also want to check the power supply. Give us some more info to go on, what hasteps ahve you done so far?

Try disconecting the powr cables from the MB and removeing the power cord tthe power supply then reconnect them.

Random Explorer crashes and BSOD's!

DO you get BSODs when the FSB is set 133 and the RAM is at 100, Or the RAM Set for 133 and the CPU set at 100? You need to try the other options to narrow it down between the RMA or the CPU

Sounds to me like the BIOS does not recognize drives larger than 30GB. Try WDs software as suggeste or partition the drive into smller drive recognizable by the BIOS.

How can I tell if the new BIOS was properly updated?

Did you go in and reconfigure you BIOS settings after the Flash? The error you report is from the initial boot after the flash , correct? That is normal, some BIOS codes reset the check-sum and will post hat error on first boot to let you know there was a change. If you acknowledge it it will...

Sounds like the HD is not reporting. Try removing the HD and putting it back in then redetect it in the BIOS. Possible the HD died

Look for an updated BIOS for you MB. The BIOS is what is limiting your HD size. If your chipset can manage drives larger then 40 GB then you should be able to find a BIOS that will resolve the issue. There is no setting in the BIOS setup for this function so you can't tell by looking. The MB mfg...

Modem on Com 3 - but Com 3 not properly recognized...

The Com 3 not showing is normal for that type of modem (WinModem). If the modem dials and connecte then it is installed properly. The slower connection speed is related to the dirvers and the Line quality. You more than likely will not get a better connection with that modem. But, you can try...
