Pass Your Cisco 642-457 Exam Easy!

Hi all, passed today with 920 using Cisco.ActualTest.642-457.v2012-03-19.by.Burn.72q.vce

This dump is good, but there are quite a few new questions.

- One to do with characteristics of SAF:

A) All routers need to be EIGRP, even non-saf
B) Only SAF routers need EIGRP, other routers act as IP cloud

I chose B.

- Question on interzone bandwidth on gateways and how many calls are allowed so make sure you know that.

- Question about Emergency calls with extension mobility, which gateway it breaks out.

I chose call will be allowed out UK gateway.

- Drag and drop on minimum configuration of SRST. Gives 4 squares to be filled but question says that not all 4 should be used. I chose:

call-manager-fallback
ip source add....
max ephones

Don't know if thats correct

- Question the same as Q12 except it asks about the CALLED number being translated to extension. I chose significant digits option

- Question very similar to Q28 where it asks you to choose between the same options. I didn't realise it was a different question and chose IOS enhanced without reading, so look carefully.

- Question the same as Q29 except it asks how SAF would advertise block 2 and type of number etc.

- Question similar to Q32 which asks what type of connection you would use between US cluster and remote cluster on the right. I chose inter cluster trunk.

There were others that I can't remember right now, but the pass mark is very low (720), so learn this dump and know the material and you will pass fine.

As discussed offline. I guess the right thing should be that HQ-MRGL should contain SW-CFB as well as Transcoder and it should be assigned to HQ-Phones. How is it ? But since only Transcoder is mentioned so it makes that choice correct. When SW-CFB sees different codec being used by the participants it will automatically look for a transcoder for the HQ phones. Since phones have been assigned an MRGL which contains a transcoder so that will be used.
Cant challenge your experience of lab of VOICE course :)

Yes you are right, media resources are assigned to MRGs, but in my opinion this MRGL which contains MRG with xcoder (HQ_MRG), should by assigned to region which has SW CFB configured. SW CFB has to know about transcoder, in this case, if it handle conference with different codecs. As I remember, we had a Lab with this issue on TVOICE training, so I remember this from TVOICE training. BTW this same question is in the TVOICE exam, if you check dumps from TVOICE, there is selected answer D.

@ Marek: For the question involving the SW-CFB, Transcoder and the respective MRG and MRGL, I guess the answer in the dump is correct. Referring to your comment that " .. The HQ_MRG must be assigned to the software conference bridge ." . In my opinion the media resources are assigned to MRGs not the vice versa. So you can assign a transcoder to an MRG but not the other way around.

So Media Resources >>> MRG >>> MRGL . Hence the answer in dump sounds correct.

Region configuration Between HQ and BR is:
HQ to BR: G:729
in this question is SW CFB used

SW CFB is using only G.711 or Cisco wideband codec, so if remote user from BR is invited to conference (HQ to BR: G:729), transcoder has to be involved to conference.

As I wrote:

Why would the SW CFB need to know about transcoders as

"The CUCM supports hardware and software conference bridges.
The software-based conference bridge, implemented as a CUCM service, supports only conferences, using a single audio codec (G.711 or Cisco wideband)."

So no trnscoding can take place when using a SW CFB. Extract taken from Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Part 1 (CIPT1) Foundation Learning Guide

got 8XX, this 72 q dump is still valid, but there were almost 20 new questions. including the ones which are modified from the present dump.
need to read the questions care fully from dump and analyze each answer so that in case any thing is modiefied in exam can be figured out easily.
still i think dump was enough to pass the exam and till last question i though i m going to fail because of the change in questions.

Dump still valid. Study up on RSVP, SIP preconditions and SAF and you should be good. There were about 6 - 7 new questions.

Just passed today. 920/1000. The dump is still valid. I had 11 new questions (sorry, don't remember them off hand). As has been stated before, know the reasons behind the answers. The new questions took a little bit of time, but with the knowledge I gained by studying the questions and aswers in the dump it wasn't terrible. Don't just memorize the answers tot he dump. Just gave the exam and passed with 907. This dump is valid and definitely helped
There are about 11 new questions. I don't remember all of them but a couple on SRST and a couple on SAF. Their is also one drag and drop for SRST.

one question i remember is what is the best way to test SRST in a live environment. Select the answer with the null 0 route.

The drag and drop question is to select the minimum requirements for configuring SRST on a remote router. You need to select 3 out of 8.

Passing is 720 /1000 with 105 minutes. Try and do some study as well don't just cram.

Yes, this is still valid. just read up on your saf/ccd and you should be good.

I wrote this exam on July 12th and got 801. I had gone through Actual test and Pass 4 sure and found different answers for same questions (12-15 questions).

No there are no simulations, there was a drag-drop question regarding SRST config. You would have 6 options, 4 of them are correct.

Is there any simulation and drag and drop in this exam ??

Yessss, till yesterday the dump is VALID, my score was 948. Studied on CIPT2 Cisco book v6.0 (the old one), than i understood the SAF protocol using some docs found on internet. I used also VM to check some of the CCM config, just to fix the commands in my mind. I used the dump about one week before the exam.

Cipt2 cleared yesterday, lots of study, some exercise and finally the use of Sahcryle dump. Tvoice next.

Sahcryle made a very good job, he (or she) defined many topics "sections", one of these sections is "questions not in the test", question 61 belongs to that section.

Question 61..GARP is related to man in the middle attack..is it 642-457??

The question 43 is wrong . The correct is D : The HQ_MRG must contain the transcoder device. The HQ_MRGL must be assigned to the software conference bridge.

What's the score on this dump?

There are two or three answers not right, a couple of question missed, but the dump is ok to afford and understand better the topics to clear this exam.

However in real life CCM is different! :)
