The Element K Book isn't a great reference for the HIT Test but it is a great practical guide for HIT Techs working in this field.
Passed the Exam 765.....been HIPAA Certified for 13 YEARS THOUGH
@P What did you use for a study guide
Passed last week 686 not the best but it will do. Thank you all for these comments, they helped a lot. only a few questions from the downloads but good study. some questions had equally good answers so a coin toss would be appropriate. Here were some other questions that I remember. hope these help and good luck.
You get a ntldr message at boot which file is missing or corrupted?
Config.sys, Boot.ini, ntdetect, or IO.sys
You have a critical device that needs high availability, which method of connection to a PC would you use?
Firewire, Serial, SCSI, or USB
Images being scanned are coming out skewed. Which software do you use to correct it?
Another question on skewing of scanned text files
Which department is responsible for HIPAA compliance
HHS, OCE, ONC, or CDC
Planning on taking this in a couple of months. Everyone has been passing it just barely. Saw this is out of 900. Any legit dumps besides uCertify. I might have to buy the books then.
I passed the test yesterday with 665.I used the uCertify preparation exam but only the 50% come from the ucertify dump the other 50% you have to read the books or have some years of experince to answer the questions.
Passed the exam yesterday with 683/650..these dumps do not help much at all. I studied the Element K book and the CompTia HIT-001 book by Joy Dark and Jean Andrews, Moe has posted the links. Study those books and do the exercises at the end of each chapter..look at the exam objectives posted by CompTia and concemtrate on the more heavily weighted sections: 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 - good luck
Took the exam today and passed with 681/650 Thanks to Allah..

Hope it help u guys if u have any Q? let me Know,,,,
Q: What is the minimum resolution for scanning documents?
A: The minimum resolution is 300 dpi X 300 dpi (dots per inch), black and white. This is also the recommended default setting for all scanned documents to be uploaded to the Finance system. Although "higher resolutions" and "grayscale or color" settings are permitted, it is recommended that you only use these higher settings in the case where proper quality can not be achieved at the recommended settings. "Higher resolutions" and "grayscale or color" settings may produce large unmanageable files.
Q: What is the maximum password age? (30days, 45days, 75days, 90days).
A: 90 days by microsoft with note: It is a security best practice to have passwords expire every 30 to 90 days, depending on your environment. This way, an attacker has a limited amount of time in which to crack a user's password and have access to your network resources.
I passed. Not the strongest victory. This is my mental notes after exam. Please use them as study topics. It is true that few, if any of the questions truly prepare you. The questions are a short one line but the answers don't always make any sense. These are only fragments but I tried.

@cman
I have a pass4sures account not a pass4sure. I just know I studyed all dumps and only saw about 4 questions from the dump on the exam. The rest was just from reading the book and answering the questions. If you have a pass4sure account upload the file and I will let you know if I see any questions which were on my exam.
Moe,
Have you looked at the Pass4sure vce file that was uploaded on 7/22/12 - do you think it is a valid dump.
Thank you moe!
Took the exam today and passed with a 699/650 not the greatest but a pass is a pass in my book.
I can tell you that there are no dumps out there which are valid, but they do teach you some things you can not find online by just doing google searches.
I have some material which will help you learn the topics and put together a little note list stuff I kept running into.
If you have any questions let me know.
Here are the books which I used
http://www.4shared.com/office/w7AdcWRO/CompTIA_Healthcare_IT_Tech_978.html
http://www.4shared.com/office/YLVnrvE8/HIT-001_notes.html
http://www.4shared.com/office/BXwmuIzr/Hit-001.html
I am on the forum all the time so like I said if you have any questions let me know.
Has anyone taken this exam recently? Is there any new questions I should know of. On a scale of 1 to 10 how hard is this test?
Thanks
The only other question that I can think of is...
Privacy, Legal, and private - Which one is the highest level?
@ Daniel.. Thank you...
With regard to the following: "a technician over hears a doctor and nurse talking about PHI? Who do you report that to?", I recall that I answered something like the Chief Security Officer or Chief Privacy Officer. Other answers simply were not correct and included discussing the matter with the doctor.
@ Danielle, do you remember the question about a technician over hears a doctor and nurse talking about PHI? Who do you report that to?
it is by one or two questions that they passed.
congrats to the ones that passed.. but as you all can see if by one or two questions that they passed.. 650 is passing .. max is 900. We need more study materials to pass this.
@TestCert
Can you post your ucertify exam prep
It would help others
@TestCert
How valid is the ucertify exam prep. Is the answer in the prep word for word for what you saw on the exam? Please advise
@TestCert
How much was the prep material you have?
Also can you answer the following?
When going paperless, after scanning PHI, should the paper be securely disposed of, or sent through a secure courier to a
secure location?
2. If a person is using 3 apps within an EMR, how many unique logons should they have? (0,1,2,3)
3. What is the minimum number of times a PHI file should be rewritten in order to be considered sanitized? (1,5,7,10)
4. What is the maximum password age? (30days, 45days, 75days, 90days)
5. A help desk ticket is sent in asking for +
6. What is the minimum resolution for scanning documents into an EMR? (200dpi, 300dpi, 500dpi, 800dpi)
7. Which is the preferred method of disposing of PHI? (Sanitizing, Degaussing)
By the way @moe, after passing the exam you are Comptia Healthcare certified and you also get a certificate via email. So you are certified in healthcare IT through Comptia. It is a certification.
Just passed on 6/18/2012 with a 665. I used ucertify exam prep. The test had a mixture of ucertify questions and dump. All the questions had different phrases but very similar in content. I would say HIPAA related question counted for 60% and 40% technical.
@ Daniel, thank you for your feedback.
Guys, below are my thoughts relative to the questions Dave identified. I got the questions identified below and answered them as follows:
1. When going paperless, after scanning PHI, should the paper be securely disposed of, or sent through a secure courier to a secure location? Disposed of in a secure manner (effectively destroying them since they are not PHI in electronic form).
2. If a person is using 3 apps within an EMR, how many unique logons should they have? (0,1,2,3) I went with 1 (Single Sign On), although I suspect one could argue 3, but that makes security challenging given the requirement that you need to know 3 usernames and 3 passwords.
3. What is the minimum number of times a PHI file should be rewritten in order to be considered sanitized? (1,5,7,10). I went with 10, based upon a previous question I believe I had for the Security+ exam
4. What is the maximum password age? (30days, 45days, 75days, 90days). I went with 75 days although I would have rather answered 60 days.
6. What is the minimum resolution for scanning documents into an EMR? (200dpi, 300dpi, 500dpi, 800dpi) I went with 300dbi, for no particular reason except for the fact that scanners seem to come with 300dpi, 600dpi, and
7. Which is the preferred method of disposing of PHI? (Sanitizing, Degaussing) Degaussing - which admittedly destroys the drive but this is data that you want to really dispose of even if it means destroying the media.
Good luck to all.
The max password age does vary so this question is not valid and should not be on the test.
Also the link for PHI is the same one that I used and I checked the standards and still missed the question.. what a joke..
Here is another about some FAQ on the subjects.
http://www.med.umich.edu/hipaa/ppt/HIPAA-FAQ.pdf
I know the max password age in Windows Server
Note
It is a security best practice to have passwords expire every 30 to 90 days, depending on your environment. This way, an attacker has a limited amount of time in which to crack a user's password and have access to your network resources.
Default: 42.
I found the following link which might be helpful.
It answers the following question:
Which is the preferred method of disposing of PHI?
http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/privacy/hipaa/enforcement/examples/disposalfaqs.pdf
@dave "What is the maximum password age? (30days, 45days, 75days, 90days) "
Where? What?
Element k, medpro, braindumps and searched on online with hippa regulations, nist, etc. No one answer. Go ahead and try.. and you will see what i mean.
@Dave
What material are you using to study? Have you done any research for answers online?
When going paperless, after scanning PHI, should the paper be securely disposed of, or sent through a secure courier to a
secure location?
2. If a person is using 3 apps within an EMR, how many unique logons should they have? (0,1,2,3)

7. Which is the preferred method of disposing of PHI? (Sanitizing, Degaussing)
Here is an example of questions that are NOT mentioned in my book or guidelines.
btw I scored a 635 the first time, 623 the second and 612 the third. Everything passed except the incomplete questions.
Go a head and take your guess.
My teacher's blog was helpful in convincing me to take it. I took and passed it last Friday. Only a few points lower than his score :)
See his blog by searching the test number and edublogs
Thank you daniel!
@daniel
Do you have the ISBN number for the book you mentioned? How long ago did you take the test. Thanks
Recently took the exam. Other than agreeing that Dave's comments on the Element K book seem to be shared by others, his other comments are misplaced in my opinion. My score was about half way between the minimum and maximum scores. Questions I thought were of acceptable quality (actually better than the questions I've experienced on other CompTIA exams). I utilized a book based upon a recommendation by a teacher I had in the past. It is "Introduction to Healthcare Information Technology." I would recommend it. I focused on the book's chapters that covered laws and regulations (not on the IT stuff). That was a good idea since the test is weighted heavily on laws and regulations. Don't waste your time with the dumps available here. Better just to read the book and take the test. Oh and the earlier discussion about this being a "certificate" or "certification." According to CompTIA's website it is a "certificate."
@dave
What type of questions did you see on the exam? What did you score?
Stay away from this test. It is one of the worst Comptia test ever. I have purchased the element k and the med pro and sent over 100 hours going through the books and all the regulations.. this test is not a valid test . how can you have a test if there is nothing for it. i have seen actual test and some other ones out there but less than 5% is in them . This is a good way for Comptia to get money.. lets make up a test and see who gets it right.. I have only seen a few pass this test . and I have to say it must be part of luck.. and when they do pass it is barely. Comptia has a major problem with this test.
Took the test Friday and passed barely. I concur that several questions and answers were ambiguous. Some had 2 equally good answers; some had none. I have been in healthcare data and administration a long time. A knew a lot of the regulations and terminology but there was still a lot of minutiae. None of these VCEs match the test, there are no books, no training, and no valid practice questions available. I am happy, however, to have this certification. I believe that it will be valuable because it is so rare.
I have my Comptia HIT, but the Comptia website does say its a certification (http://certification.comptia.org/getCertified/certifications/hittech.aspx). A certificate is what you get when you pass the certification test.
I work in Healthcare IT, and all I did to pass this exam was look at a few of the questions and read the answer explanation. The problem with this test is that many of the questions are ambiguous and they do not give you the proper information to make a informed and proper answer
PS sorry for calling you an idiot
@M
First, the spelling mistake of HIPAA was due to autocorrect( my mistake for not double checking) on my phone. Second this exam is not a certification, its a certificate ( there is a difference) so that information is correct. You can check Comptia's website if you do not believe me. As for my statement for not having any value, what I meant by that was no hospitals or doctor offices require this to be hired. I do believe it will be a great starting point to get your foot in the door.
Do you have any input on the exam? Have you taken it yet, if so please provide and tips you have for others.
@moe
"This exam is new and since its not a "true" certification but more of a certificate" Please read what you wrote carefully again as sir your are an idiot
Also its HIPAA not HIPPA
The test is worth a lot NOW not, I do not where you did your research on the worth of this test, but I believe you just made this shit up.
Do not shy away from this cert as it is valuable and will help you break into the Healthcare IT field or if your in it, it will get you a raise, a 10-15% raise.
@CR
This exam is new and since its not a "true" certification but more of a certificate, not many software exam companies have adopted to it yet. If you use this dump and the other dump of 100 questions and know hippa you can pass. You can download the element k book from 4shared as a reference.
Anyone know of a valid dump for HIT
Dump IS NOT VALID!
Took the exam today and failed with a 603/650 this was only with 1 day of looking over the material. DO NOT BUY THE ELEMENT K Book it is junk and you can download it from 4shared.
As for what is on the exam, you will not see many computer questions more about HIPPA and all the organizations.
objectives to learn would be all the medical terms and fines and know the roles per positions.
This exam was not what I was expecting, do I believe it has a value, yes in the future but right now they want you to know the legal side of it not the technogly side.
The one thing I would know is the types of backups if you have any questions let me know. I will be taking the exam again after I finish this semester.
