thanks for the responses. corkyg, do you think you can give me a link to such a device? i dont plan on using the drive often, only to install some software; as the laptop itself has no optical drives. appreciate it

sata raid controller

thanks alot for the response zepper. i got an 80gig SATA drive as a gift and i saw that the sata controller, and the sata raid card were around the same price. now i know i can get the sata raid card and look to expand to a raid configuration later on when i pickup another drive.

blurry lcd

i tried this thing: http://www.monitorsdirect.com/toolkit/index.shtml and it helped improved the blurriness abit, i changed a control called "phase" on the monitor settings.

the problem right now is, my geforce ti4600 died on me so im using an old crappy geforce2mx untill i can get a new card. would the DVI make THAT BIG a difference? thnks

thank you klah, i j ust found the link myself on another site :) hmm, maybe i should return this monitor and get a better one. even after the cleartype, its still making me dizzy compared to the crt i have.

hi, i just purchased my first lcd (princeton vl1716 17in 25ms DVI from costco) but the text is blurry as hell. i heard there was some setting to tweak on windows or some profile to download from microsoft that helps improve the text visibility. does anyone have the info for this? thanks
