Backup just to have another safe copy of files

Free version of Crashplan will allow you to automatically backup certain folders to an external USB or network location automatically. I believe this is what you're looking for. Just be aware of the limitations of the free version which only does once a day backup vs continuous for paid version...

What model specific changes you think Intel will make to the Kabylake line-up?

WD's MyCloud or just create your own NAS?

I have the MyCloud you do not have to go through the Western Digital website to access your data you can just use local accounts to access your data. However using a WD account does simplify accessing your MyCloud remotely as you do not have to rely on a DDNS service and manually opening ports...

Atom X3/X5/X7 Windows device discussion thread

Cherry Trail was all about GPU improvement there was virtually no change to the CPU cores. Both CPU runs at similar frequency but Z8300 has a 10% lower TDP.

Server adapter = NIC?

Careful with some of the third party amazon sellers. Most of them sell fake Intel NICs. Also the adapter you link to isn't the latest Intel one's, they are well supported but I believe EOL. The newer Intel NICs are the i350 series etc. Will costs you more thought but if you want the latest stuff ...

Intel gives Xiaomi free tablet CPUs

Seriously they came out with the exact improvements they need for the targeted platform. Intel could of stripped down the GPU on CHT and IO and probably made CHT 20-25% faster then BT on the CPU but is that going to matter on a phone or tablet if it meant you can't decode/encode the latest H.265...

Skylake compute sticks!

The cherry trail soc doesn't have SATA as it's designed for phones and tablets so they are most likely using a USB to SATA bridge chip. That being said the Pipo X6S did look interesting as a possible pfsense box but since they don't mention what make the LAN ports are it's safe to assume it...
