Rented a Toyota Prius for 4 days: my thoughts

It was the other way around. It was the Stig driving the Prius around the track like it was stolen, and the BMW M3 was keeping up with the Prius with minimal effort.

Yes, AHCI is definitely enabled. Otherwise, Windows won't boot because I initially installed Windows with AHCI on.

Thanks for the reply, jimhsu. My motherboard is ASUS P5Q Pro (P45/ICH10R), and I didn't even install chipset driver at that point. Is there anyway to check if NCQ has been enabled?

I don't think I have installed Intel Matrix Storage Manager drivers though because the test was performed 5 minutes after a fresh Windows 7 install. I didn't even bother installing any drivers (e.g. Intel, Nvidia etc.) The only things on the SSD are 1) Fresh Win 7 Pro installation, 2) Intel SSD...

Low benchmark results with X25-M G2 160GB

Updated a next to new X25-M G2 160GB yesterday with the brand new Intel firmware (02HA). Installed the drive as a secondary (D drive). Deleted the existing partition on the drive. Made a new partition and formatted it. Ran AS SSD Benchmark and got rather poor results. A "69" read score...

New firmware for X25-M G2 with TRIM support. When?

My understanding is that no storage drivers on the market right now support TRIM besides Microsoft Windows 7 default storage drivers and currently G2 X25 does not support TRIM until Intel release a firmware upgrade. Intel has also announced that G1 X25 will not receive a firmware upgrade to...

Replacement AGP video card

I gave a 11 year old cousin my old P4 2.8GHz system w/ 1GB of RDRAM (PC1066) a few years ago. The video card - a mighty Radeon 9700 Pro which I bought for $500 in 2002 - died recently, and I are trying to replace it with something decent so he can continue to game on it with a 15" LCD...

I have a 46" Sony LCD TV as well. There should be a setting in the TV settings menu to go "Full Pixels" instead of "Normal," "-1," or "-2."

You got it the other way around. OEM drives usually come with full warranty from the HD manufacturer. It's the retail drives that get the little and short warranty.

GTX 295 - Seemingly low 3dmark06 scores

3Dmark06 is pretty much a CPU test nowadays! If you drop in a 4.5GHz Quad, I am sure your score will go over 20k.
