Hahaha. I wonder how many sales/month they get. I am all for the idea of exploiting really stupid people and taking their money. It's a form of social darwinism, I guess. We wouldn't have so many lawsrules, regulations, lawsuits, etc. if stupid people weren't around.

What is the deal with these untrue Write speeds? My 8x (yes, ancient) burns a CD in about 8 minutes, so a 40x should burn a CD in 8/5= 1.6 minutes. But it doesn't. My guess would be that older burners wrote at constant speed, while newer burners write at variable speeds, with 40x being the...

The rebate forms that print out with your receipt state what you need to send them. One of the rebates says to send in the original UPC and the other one asks for a copy of it, so you can do both rebates! If you don't have a CompUSA ad just print out the webpage on the compusa site.

SpotDancer, are you sure the mouse you bought has 6,000 frames per second? The Best Buy and CompUSA websites say it has 1500. They are probably getting rid of their older mouses and making them cheap.

I can't get neighborhood network to work. I'm using Earthlink DSL (PPPoE)

When I got home I discovered that my roommate bought a Linksys router. We set it up and now everything's working! Thanks for your help guys.

Cable Modem and Cable TV

I can't get neighborhood network to work. I'm using Earthlink DSL (PPPoE)

Here is my setup: 2 computers (one running WinXP, other running Win2000) feed into a hub, which is uplinked to the DSL Modem. Earthlink DSL uses PPP over Ethernet so we "dial in" to get internet. We can both be dialed in at the same time. There will be 2 more computers in our network soon...

computer freeze up

I have an InWin case w/ a 235 watt power supply. I once swapped it out for a 300W unit but it still would crash, so it isn't the PSU. I think my mobo temp is something like 27 deg C, but I'll have to check on that when i get home. It doesn't seem like there is an increase in temperature that...
