Sorry about that.I was under the impression that you only need to sign in if you are going to post. I made a nice little pdf file that I will gladly email to you if you like.
Here is a quick little guide with pictures on how I replaced the T5250 CPU on a Lenovo R61i with a much faster T7300:

Let me know what you think.
Hi,
I have an Asus P5B motherboard and I found the entry in the BIOS to disable C1E but I can't find EIST(speed step?) anywhere.
Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Steve
I don't love either more.
I have 2 AMD boxes(xp2400+ and xp2700+) and 1 Intel box(P4 2.8c) and they are all great. Remember it's always good to have choises.
My Shuttle X-PC with AMD 2600+ 512 Ram goes from power on to windows XP logon in 29secs.
My P4 2.8c @3.15 on an Asus P4C800-E 512 ram does it in 33 secs? I think the drive on the X-PC is faster.

I remember reading somewhere that it's possible to upgrade a Win2000Pro instalation to a WinXPHome install somehow eventhough M!(RO$O&T says no.
Does any one now how??
Thanks,
Steve.
Listen to minendo!!!
Remove the drivers from "MY COMPUTER\PROPERTIES\HARDWARE\DEVICE MANAGER" reboot windows and when it tells it found new hardware point it to the correct drivers (start with the ones the Mboard came with).
Sorry but it sounds like you have corrupted files on you HD.
BTW overclocking can do that, a bad PSU can do it, bad memory can do it or even a dying HD can do it.
I had the same problem some years ago with the Abit BH6 and a Celeron CPU while overclocking.
What seemed to help was to manually set the correct FSB and multiplier in the bios and reboot, or load safe defaults and reboot.
Good luck.
