My DFI UT x58 usually won't post with ram in slot 1, 3, or 5 (slot 1 meaning, closest to CPU) unless all slots are filled. To check channel C, just put one stick in slot 6 and then try 4+6 if 6 works solo. Odd number slots apparently have already been tested.

Need a good full-tower, budget $300-$400 or (preferably) less

I have the TJ-07 and Cosmos S. If I was in the market for a new Case, I'd probably get the 800D over both of those, although it'd be a hard decision. Those are the only three I'd consider, except I look for water cooling capability rather than air.
