Hi Folks,
I currently have a server connected to an old OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W, and I have noted a bit of an issue when using Molex to SATA power converters. Essentially, the base of the drive around the connector is substantially hotter than those connected directly via the original SATA...
Everyone seems to be raving about those WD green drives. Isn't there any way to prevent them from spinning down so often, or is that a feature built into the firmware? That said, it might not be a big deal since these are going to be on a remote server and so I'll be restricted to Gigabit LAN...
So I just finished reading the review found at the link below:
http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1077/10/
It didn't really shed any light in terms of filling a knowledge gap; I was simply looking for some raw numbers in terms of performance. So, as I stated in the title, does anyone...
Everything has been left at stock, so vcore jumps are not a result of any over of underclocking, more likely inherent overclocks via TurboBoost. This will remain a stock build, so I'm not going to touch the core voltages.
Also, what do you mean the voltage DROPS to 1.12 under 100% load? Do...
So, I didn't think that it would be nice if I didn't provide an update in my own thread about my progress. I'm happy, but not completely. I just got the CM Hyper 212 Plus, and it has prevented me from seeing those 80C temps, but now they are only down to high 60s to low 70s. A nice...
So it was the cooler that was the problem in your case? I just don't know. I've seen screenshots with temps in the mid 20s with stock coolers installed. The Hyper 212+ is the one that I was looking at getting, and I dont' think my memory heatsinks are as tall as yours are, so that shouldn't...
Not sure about those games, but you should really run something that is CPU intensive like a Prime95 Torture Test to see what your temps look like under max workloads. Regarding SpeedFan, I haven't used it extensively, so I couldn't say.
Regarding my issue, I'm scratching my head at the...
Thanks for the advice.
I was messing around with the BIOS settings and it looks like "show BIOS logo" actually means that it shows a customized logo set via the ASUS MyLogo2 utility.
If you disable this, it actually provides you with a time limit between 1 and 10 seconds (or whenver you...
Sorry about that, here are the full list of specs.
i7 2600K + Stock HSF
ASUS P8P67 LE
Mushkin Enhanced Silverline 8GB DDR3-1333 (2x4GB)
PowerColor Radeon HD 5570
Corsair Builder Series CX500 500W PSU
WD Caviar Black 500 GB (AAKS)
The thing that I find odd is that when I touch the HSF...
So I just built a new rig with this motherboard and I noticed that I cannot even see the POST activity. There is just a long black screen followed by the Windows startup logo. Is anyone else getting this?
So I just built a 2600K-based system and I have to say that the thing is scorching fast. My main issue however is that I'm seeing higher idle temperatures than my current E6600, around 40C vs 37C on the Conroe chip.
Another thing that I found interesting is tha the temps seem to spike on any...
I could do that, but my main concern is that the fans that I have right now aren't really good. I like the case design and I've been toying with taking the 230mm fan out entirely. It's relatively quiet, but it moves almost no air. Then again with a decent fan controller I could just have it a...
Yes, that's the case that I have, except that I turned the HDD chassis so that it's pointing forward for better airflow. Also, I removed the panel that separates the PSU from the rest of the case as I felt it was un-needed. The PSU pulls cool air from the bottom of the case and vents it out...
I have a Thermaltake Element S, so there is tons of room. I have stock fans, 1 120 in the back, 1 in the front and a 240 on top.
Case temps, not really sure. I don't have anything to monitor ambient temps, but CPU temps are usually around 45c per core.
