The main problem with ESD (electrostatic discharge) is that the damage can be hidden. Even if you touch a component and you do not feel a spark does not necessarily mean you did not damage the component. ESD damage is hidden and it can cause parts to slowly fail over time. If I were you I would...
Any other suggestions or advice for me? Would the PQI DDR 400 2-2-2-5 memory fit the bill for overclocking or should I buy another kind of memory? I have not ordererd my hardware yet; thus I am still open to advice and/or suggetions for this system.
Lastly, with a decent chip and decent...
Hmm, come to think of it, perhaps I set my goal a little too high. 3GHz shouldn't be out of the question with a decent chip and decent cooling right? I wonder if 4GHz would be possible with phasechange cooling? Even if it is possible with phasechange cooling there's no way in hell I would spend...
I want to try to reach 3.0GHz on a 2500+ XP-M chip. I read where 2500+ XP-M chips can overclock to 3200+ (2.4GHz) speeds with stock cooling. I would water cool the chip in hopes of reaching 3.0GHz. My setup would be as follows:
DFI NFII Ultra Infinity
2500+ XP-M
PQI DDR400 2-2-2-5
6600 GT...
I read where the 9550's overclock very well with decent cooling. I just may decide to go with a 9550 and put the extra savings toward some better cooling for the card.
