Well... they own like 40% of the GeForce high-end market in Mexico, and pretty much anyone who goes to best-buy gets one of these. Newegg always has them in stock, so... it looks like a lot of people. One of the few builders that are actually still loyal to NVIDIA.

Phenom II X4 965 or Core i5 750?

Core i5 all the way. I'm guessing it will be for gaming, so... place largest part of your budget into videocard. IF (notice IF) you can wait a month more, you'll be able to get Fermi NVIDIA GPU.

Nvidia kills GTX285, GTX275, GTX260, abandons the mid and high end market

I'm sorry to say so, mate, but this pice is real. NV will NOT be shipping any more GTX260/275/285 to OEMs. The reasons are NOT true. But the title is. Cheers.

AM3 Phenom II x4 955 or 1156 i5?

Go Core i5. You can't go wrong there. Will PWN anything AMD throws at it. Do some OCing and you should be in the big leagues.

To CPU or to GPU?

I just read AT's review on the MacPro 2009. It seemed ridiculous that not only did it give modest performance improvements over past version, but that it also lost in some benches! So, should I ditch the whole Xeon 5500 series idea, get a nice X58 mobo, a 950 CPU and wait until 6-core CPUs...

And the new line of cards does not allow that hack anymore. I think 8600GT was the last of those hackable cards. So... what y'all saying is to stick to a good GPU and a mid-class CPU? The vcard at 450usd price is the FX1800, and spec wise, its far slower than a FX3800. Will CUDA be...

CS4 performance using GPU instead of CPU has one of the most impressive differences in performance I've seen. Simply put, you can't use many new features WITHOUT a GPU. And many apps are going GPU, where 4x performance increases are not unexpected. How is a Core i7 with 30% peformance...
