Quick update, I figured out it is possible to mod a x4 pci-e card to work in a x1 slot. Since a dual gigabit card isn't likely to push over 250mb/s at most anyway, it should be find. I got a couple IBM/Intel dual port cards.
Now the question is, how exactly to team them together (is this...
Very long story short of an evolution toward figuring out wth I need/want to build for a little network attached backup system, I settled on building one.
The goal is to connect my main system with about 10 to 12TB of storage, to a secondary system that I want to mirror all of my data onto.
I...
I think I pretty much agree with InvasiveDoc
I would add though that the numbers for actual mb / sec you see on drives could vary vastly depending on what you are using. An old 80gb 5400 drive vs a newer 1TB 7200 drive would be night and day. Like probably around 30-40mb/s vs 120+
From my...
Thanks LTC8K6, appreciate the effort.
On this system, the power button is a little odd, the actual power button, is soldered directly onto the motherboard, very uncommon. The button on the shell pushes the actual button that is on the motherboard. I don't know where those power button boards...
Just as an update. I have looked through all of Digikey & Mouser for both tactile & momentary switches, over 10000 parts and not one is the same as what I need.
I have this Dell Inspiron One 2305 that I just got, love these systems.
It was left in the snow, I managed to fully get all the water cleaned out and dried up before turning in on. Problem was, my cats... One of them knocked it over in the night and busted a corner of it. Power button got...
This is a good idea. I have done this before when I've got a nuked laptop & someone wants it fixed, or, I want to fix it up and the shell/mobo has major issues. It really does sound like you nuked the board. Usually with a cpu you can turn it on and it will run for quite a bit before it gets so...

My apologies for lack of clarity, while I've drank a pot of coffee today, well anyway, I guess it only goes so far. Also I want to express my thanks for all the input so far, thanks everyone.
I realize being succinct and getting to the point while providing enough information is generally...
That was what I was originally going to do, however, this machine is intended to be set up fairly idiot proof (including me I guess) and not require people monkeying around in the BIOS to boot one physical drive or the other. So I decided that wasn't going to be a good way to go, also I wanted...
Attempting to try that program now, installed in XP, not sure what to do with it now though really. However, starting to read up on this, I'm not sure it's going to work and be different from everything else I've tried.
" Grub4dos utilises two different methods for booting operating systems -...
Been looking for a boot load program that actually allows you to boot multiple OSes without having all of the boot sector, boot files etc exactly how they would be normally to boot anyway.
For example I have tried lots of programs that were useless to me because all they do is execute the...
Got this netbook that has an Intel atom 1.6 Ghz processor in it. And that may be the problem in and of itself. Basically installed Windows 7 ultimate without a hitch, did all the updates, installed latest firefox (version 30 currently) & flash, then proceeded to try and watch a youtube video...
