If it is offline it will try to dial out. dialup and DSL only i would assume.

I assume it is outlook 2003 not express, goto tools, options, mail setup, and then send receive. the page before that shows the notification options.

I can send you notepad but the other is from a 64bit XP install isnt it or comes with someother software as i dont have that on my 32 XP

XP install program won't detect my HDD

in most newer bios's there is an option to change the HDD from SATA to IDE mode or some variation of that. Go have a look at the options and experiment.

Outlook will not place sent messages in the Sent folder

in options / email options. is there a tick in save a copy of messages in the sent items folder?

Exchange problems

So external mail doesn't work? inbound / outbound or both? Are the SMTP connectors setup and corectly? Any routers or firewalls in the way? if so are the ports open and pointing to the exchange server? Is the MX record updated and pointing to the external ip address?

That would make it easier for you to understand though wouldn't it. No just a very bad childhood followed by bad parents loony older brother and me wanting to get on with life. But they would always butt in, try to make me become a bad person as well.
