Apparently the same holds true for the 3090: If this holds true, I think it's quite safe to say that the rumored low performance improvement from the 3090 over the 3080 is not due to the 3090 being power limited.

Obviously Inflation exists, but it isn't really the main determinant in how Nvidia sets their prices, unless you think there was inflation of over 70% between 2017 when Nvidia released the 1080 Ti and 2018 when they released the 2080 Ti. With regards to wafer prices you are absolutely right...
