Saving My Hard Drive

Three or four days ago my 2ish year old WD 500GB HDD disappeared from My Computer and the Device Manager after coming back from a suspended state. I scanned for hardware changes and it popped back up (although it asked me to assign a new letter to the drive). I didn't think much of it, and...

Trying to choose between two monitors...

Well, I'm using an NEC 1970GX at the moment, so I really have no problems with TN panels. I'm glad you mentioned the BenQ G2400W, other than the lack of glossy screen (which is what I like the most about my Opticlear), it seems to be pretty solid for it's price. I'm reading some user reviews...

Trying to choose between two monitors...

I realize there is already an article on Anandtech comparing these two (among other 24" LCDs), but I wanted to hear from some consumers who actually have experience with these (or some with extended knowledge of TN vs VA, which this basically boils down to). So far I've been leaning towards...

Fixin' up an old computer

I've got this friend, Brittnee, and she is having some computer troubles. Now, mind you, her whole family, including herself, is computer illiterate, so I'm expecting loads of usless programs, spyware, and the possible trojan/virus. What would be the best way to go around fixing this computer...

SLI in Registry?

Have you tried removing the drivers completely and doing a reinstall of them? Driver Cleaner is a good tool to use. As for the registry thing, I'm not sure, I wouldn't think so, since SLI is driver controlled.

SLI in Registry?

Uninstall the display drivers that came with your card and install the latest drivers from the nVidia website (66.93 I believe). Then go into the advanced display properties (this can be done by going to the display properties from the control panel, click the settings tab, then advanced)...

Weird little things...

Same story with SLI off. I had this problem with my old 9600 card, I would really notice it whenever I watched the beggining sequence in FFXI. Is Vsync an option?

Weird little things...

Sometimes when playing DOOM3 or watching certain media files or pre-rendered sequences, I get this weird "blind" effect, like I'm seeing the pages of a book being flipped vertically. What could be causing this? It happens in the intro of DOOM3 (the ID logo sequence), sometimes during the game...

*solved* New system won't stay on

One of your other devices may have a short in them. I took this old hard drive out of an old Dell to test on my computer, and it did the same thing. Turns out the HDD had a short in it. Just a thought.
