8RDA+ Problems:

Ok, I reseated the memory in both channels, a no go with Kingston HyperX PC3200. I then put in a Kingston PC2100 module and the system posted. Any ideas? EDIT: By trying "both channels" I mean putting 1 DIMM in slot #3 and when that didn't work putting it in slot #1.

Just finished building a new system, but I ran into a problem. All of my fans spin, I get power to my devices, but I'm getting a "02" or "20" reading on the 8RDA+'s LED to indicate what went wrong in the BIOS. Both of those say "reserved" in the manual. The beep code is long-short. I...

newb in need of answer.... OEM DVD drives

DVDs as in the disc itself, not the drive. OEM doesn't necessarily mean it comes with nothing, just that it is from the Original Equipent Manufacture.

Squidman, during the times I mentioned, it will spin very slowly. I would say <150 RPM. The wires contact the connector. I'm almost positive it isn't a wire problem.

Another Buying Advice Thread:

How is the Buffalo Technology 256MB DDR400 (Winbond)? I was looking at that RAM chip in addition. I wanted a Sapphire, but they are sold out at NewEgg. I'll take a look at the FIC R9700 Pro. EDIT: It is sold out at NewEgg. EDITED: For formatting.

Did you parents ever find your pr0n?

I pity your kids, not because of that. Over-protecting them is definately the best way to do it, right. Just tell them to learn how to build their own computer, save up, and then let them do whatever they want.

Advise before I head to the online store?

The 2.8 Northwoods have a 533 MHz bus, not an 800 MHz bus. There is only a 3.0 processor available with an 800 MHz bus. Any two sticks of usable DDR is fine for Dual-Channel DDR.

Second Computer for Parents

Make sure that's a single stick of RAM for upgrade potential. Get a new HDD, they will notice the 5400 RPM as opposed to 7200 RPM speed, be nice to your parents.
