They're actually quite decent knives, although not quite on the level of Wusthof or so on. For someone just moving into an apartment, or a wedding gift etc, this is a great buy. I'm considering it just to save until someone I know gets married, heh.

One nice thing about the extra buttons is that they're programmable. I have the Logitech Optical Mouseman Wheel, and have the thumb button programmed to minimize all windows, which I find quite useful. A good friend has his programmed as the "enter" button, and he swears by it...

The screen is indeed 800x600, and it is TFT, not HPA (I would never consider an HPA screen, I can't stand them!). For some reason, IBM's webpage won't let me browse their ThinkPad selection, but I have seen this model elsewhere (usually for $1500+)

IBM does tend to make nice hardware, and their notebooks are no exception. However, make sure to avoid the HPA screen (this one doesn't have it). Also, note that the pointing option on these bad boys is one of those little pointing sticks... IBM makes them a bit rough for a tactile sensation...
