Windows XPe deployment on a thin client

So I recently got my hands on a free HP t5700 thin client and wish to turn it into a car PC. I've done my homework and labored long and hard to figure out the ropes to compiling my own Windows XPe image for this device and I think I have it all together aside from one thing... I can't figure...

    I hate Apple.

This is an extremely ambiguous post. I can't tell if you're agreeing or disagreeing with me. As far as I know the old Windows XP stack was an open source based one that Microsoft cannibalized. People found out and got angry so they redid it for Vista with their own code. This new stack has...

    I hate Apple.

Umm not to burst your Apple hating bubble but that sluggish network traffic has more to do with the new TCP stack on Windows Vista. It more than likely works fine because the two Windows boxes are working with the same stack but when you put the Samba against your 2k3 box you're running into the...

    Tuniq tower 120

I have mine in a first generation Antec Sonata case. Its proximity to the rear case fan and the PSU case fan allowed me to just omit its built in fan all together so its "passively" cooled. A tight fit but works out well!. pic

G.Skill DDR2 800 HZ no longer have D9 Micron chip?

I just got two more sticks last week. The previous ones did amazing things however with these two new ones I can't overclock more than 850mhz with all four sticks. I'm not entirely sure if this has more to do with the dual channel or if its the new ram itself, I haven't tested it all out yet. I...

    New testing methodology at Anandtech:)

I would estimate that AC source analyzer to be about $3,000 brand new and those adjustable DC load sources to be at least another $3,000 for all those modules. Geogous equipment, I read up on the AC piece and it has built in PFC which makes me a little gitty. I would love to get my hands on a...

Who said Supereme Commander runs faster with a quad-core?

Please use the SupCom Core Maximizer, its a supplement to create perfect load balancing across all cores. It's valuable even for a duel core system.

    E6400 - an impossible OC?

Those are actually the memories stock timings. They can go up to 500mhz with those however when OCing the CPU I seem to be stuck at 470ish max. So I'm actually not loosing anything, and I'm more comfortable with the 1:1 ratio. As for 2.6 to 3.2, it was the VTT voltage like evetstech...

    E6400 - an impossible OC?

Seriously, Thank you so much for the input. After a few hours of tweaking I think I settled on my best options. For whatever reason the ram becomes unstable with CPU OCing so I thorttled it back and jacked up the CPU. Best result so far is 3.2Ghz passively cooled. These are the...

    Vista + H.264 = WTF!

With MPC I get about 15-20 FPS with a E6400 at stock speeds using CCCP or Vista codec packs. The free codecs are awful, they hiccup when the bitrates fluctuate. The entire time my CPU usage is only about 60-70% and yet its still missing tons of frames and becomes totally out of sync.

    E6400 - an impossible OC?

I just shut off the TMC and gave the NB 1.55V and I've gotten farther than ever before, 2.56Ghz. What a typical NB voltage, esp when its passively cooled. 1.55V seems out of control, or has this been the missing link all along? You sure I need to raise my VTT? I read up on VTT and GTL, they...

    Vista + H.264 = WTF!

I used to use CCCP, swore by it, however I gave the Vista Codec Pack a shot and it seems to work better on Vista although marginally. I may switch back because it doesn't seem to matter. They both function exactly the same for H.264. Choppy and annoying.

    E6400 - an impossible OC?

I've stressed the ram at those speeds and timings for quite some time while the CPU was underclocked and it checked out. The vDIMM is at 2.3 and the vMCH at 1.35V in that particular cap. Apparently its fairly common for the D9 chips. Even when the ram is at stock speeds and the CPU has similar...

    E6400 - an impossible OC?

So I built this system over 2 weeks ago and I'm getting fed up with it. I can OC ram no problem but as soon as I push the CPU the system becomes unstable. The best I can do is 2.6ghz, but when I stress test it the system just reboots after 10-20 minutes with no errors or warnings. The CPU...
