The 8800s are already below MSRP in some places, and prices will probably continue to drop slowly as is typical after a video card launch. I wouldn't expect a refresh for a few months however.

It's 7.8" long. The EVGA 7950 GT KO SC should perform close to the level of a X1900 XT 256MB, generally a little worse. Still a very good card though. Here's a good link, $280 AR.

Most people try to reach the highest stable speeds they can. If your card can make it through a torture test for a long time, it should be fine. However you can back down a couple MHz if you're really paranoid
