> Just wondering can anyone confirm the space (in mm) available to fit a N/B heatsink if using a PCI-X Card with an AC N/V cooler.
I have a 6800 ultra with a NV5 cooler, I'd say there is about 17mm of space. I could not fit the stock heatsink and papst 40X10mm fan. I ended up using the...
Just an update. I replaced the Zalman47 with an Vantec Iceberq and it seems to be cooler. The fan is quieter than stock. I did have to trim the bolt hole tabs on the vantec a bit with a dremel to make it fit.
Unfortunately (most) Panaflos don't have a 3rd rpm pin -- They just have a 3rd pin that you can hk up to an alarm if the fan stops spinning.
If you do find a Panaflo that can meaure RPM (I think there is a rare model variation that does this), let me know. I'd love to buy one.
Sounds like it...
Get it? Sounds like... oh nevermind.
My Zalmann 47/Silencer NV 5 combo seems to be working well...better than I expected anyway. I've not actually tested the HS temperature, but the mobo temp has remained the same and my computer hasn't crashed. I still may try a Vantech...
I've got the v1100. I wouldn't call it silent, but it's pretty quiet and very solid. The v1200 may be more echoey? And you'll have to be cognizant of cable length.
Airflow isn't the best. I cut larger openings into the fan grill on the back to allow about 2X as much air flow through (it looks...
I got the ANtec Truepower 550 EPS12V -- it's like a server version. It's has the 24 pin mobo connector, and 2 SATA. It also has a 8 pin 12 V (second rail) connector that I use to power my 6800...though I did have to make a 8 pin to 6 pin pci-x connector myself.
seattledesi: I got that fan. It's pretty quiet, though I wasn't able to use it/listen to it in my case.
Replacing the stock fan with a 40X40 would be great, but unfortunately it just doesn't fit with my Ultra/NV5. I've got a Zalman 47 with 3 rows of pins cut down on there now, but it gets...
Anyone know where you can buy the Titan VGA heatsink rgrimm mentions on top of page 10?
Looks like the best alternative to stock that:
1) Uses the mobo 3 pin connector and measures rpm
2) fits under a NV5
