IE8 is shutting down after a fresh install

OK. Here's the deal. IE was shutting down on this system pretty often, but there were also a bunch of trojans on it. So I formatted the c drive, reinstalled xp pro, office pro, avira, ad-aware, spybot, and, spywareblaster. I left the D partition alone, where the user's docs are located...

Thanks for the tips. I'll check them out. Here is the latest. The blue screen happened again, so he was able to get the error code: Stop error: 0x000000C5 (0x00000004, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x805yb917) It was very slow, so I did some cleaning of spyware. Ad-aware found 83 cookies...

Problem with Avira AntiVir Rescue CD - Get "Finished Scanning" message immediately

Problems with TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen; quarantined it but now Run DLL errors

OK. Thanks. Did not run the online scan in safe mode. I used AntiVir (both by quarantining everything that came up and via the Rescue CD), SDFix, and MalwareBytes and it fixed everything. Thanks.

Problems with audio and video on a Dell Inspiron 7500 laptop

Thanks. I installed the video drivers from Dell, but that did not help. Someone said that Flash video is CPU intensive and to try other browsers. I was using Firefox, I believe, but will try Opera and Chrome. Will also try installing the audio drivers from Dell.

Did my laptop just die?

Thanks . I actually figured out what happened. I have an Antec AC Adapter that's adjustable in voltage. I guess that last time I pulled it out of my laptop bag, the lever that controls the voltage went from 15v to 24v. So, it was giving my laptop too much power. Good thing it didn't fry it...
