your access list is wrong. It uses wildcards (think of it as inverted mask). And capitalization matters on classmap name. Also, you want to use priority instead of bandwidth. You should also probably stick a class default in with WFQ.

Backing up Cisco RTR Configs

Better answer - Use SNMP to make the router transfer its running config to a tftp server. No need for nasty telnet based scripts. The OID you need to make the magic happen is: .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.1.55.$IPADDR s <filenamedestination>

Anyone familiar with tone generators?

If you have a managed switch, you can always compare the mac address forwarding table to the PCs on the other side. Find the PC's mac address, look for the mac in the switch and wa-la. You now know which PC is in which port.

Absolutely, amen. Go renew your smartnet. That's why you buy Cisco in the first place. For the support! The 8x5xNBD isn't that expensive, especially on a 3005.

They are just so easy when they work. God help you when it decides to take a nice firewall crap. Then you get to look into nooks and crannies of software you never knew existed! (I've been there, it can be downright frightening...)

What's interesting is that mail can't be delivered from the internet to .8... Its not allowed. It has to be delivered to .7. The access list says so. The way it works is that the access group ties an access list to a interface and filters traffic from an inbound perspective. The statics...

The access group is what applies the access list to an interface. Do you see the word "conduit" in your config anywhere, and are you running a recent version of pix code? I'm assuming this is a two interface pix...

Not the access-list, the access-group. But you're obviously getting mail in... Does your mailserver have more than 1 IP on it? The reason you're getting the error "No PTR record for <x.x.x.14>, rejecting" is because the pix isn't catching the internal mailserver IP and tying it to .8...

Okay party people. I'm making some assumptions here since you didn't post your access-groups for the outside interface. But... You need to use a STATIC for the mail server. You tie the .8 address to the inside IP. You do still want it natted, otherwise the pix will just pass the private...

Output of CDP

Another fun fact on auto mdix - it will not work when you have a port hard coded for speed and/or duplex. And there are line cards that will do auto mdix in the 4500 series. I know for a fact that the WS-X4548-GB-RJ45 modules do that voodoo.
