Reasons women don't like Random Variable...

I don't know about where you are, but here that is a huge plus. They are expensive, "elite," and different. Just don't go super scary eco or frugal (gas savings) and the Prius should be ok.

Question about my NEC 3520

I've bought writable DVDs before that are marked as 8x but actually are 16x media. It's the same concept as if AMD or Intel has too many of a high grade processor so they downclock it and sell it as a slower one.

Northbridge fan

Yes, the heatsink might be the same size as the socket; however, the northbridge chip is usually very slightly taller than the surrounding substrate. Thus, the heatsink, if properly mounted and balanced, will rest on the chip but "hover" above the rest of the socket's area.

Do you use Public Transportation?

I live in Atlanta which means that there is just way too much sprawl to make taking MARTA (our public transportation) a viable solution. The trains are decent if you're going from a location near a station to another location near a station, but that's an insanely small portion of the city. Here...

The original heatsink on the northbridge chip of the Asus A8N series boards was very loud and annoying. There are a few threads out there about it; one of them is here.

By the way, the A8N-E I got came with the old style heatsink fan. Asus support makes the process to get the replacement version very easy. Just call 510-739-3777, use option 3, and tell them you need a new heatsink fan. You may or may not need you motherboard's serial number. YMMV

Cleaning a Water Cooling System

Hey, I'm setting up a water cooling system and its currently in its out-of-computer testing phase. After I finish testing for leaks I want to throughly clean out the tubing, waterblock, etc. before putting in distilled water + my additives. What would be best to add to the solution to clean out...
