i assume that the sapphire x800gto with 16 pipes is similarly configured to the powercolor x800gto with 16 pipes (standard). the powercolor card is a defacto x800xl...almost identical specs (only a lot cheaper).
the x800 series of cards support hdr but not sm3.0. the difference between sm3.0...
i won't be overclocking
but
looking on the arctic cooling silentium website
they make some really interesting claims for the
custom built seasonic 350 watt psu
and compare it favourably in graphs etc
with antec truepower 550 watts
in terms of its efficiency
and the power it can...
my system is
asus a8n-e
x2 3800
250g wd sataII
2 x 512 corsair
innovision 6800gs (just about to order)
no case / psu yet (looking for understated elegance, quiet, good cooling)
i am considering similar options to you as far as sourcing a case goes:
antec tx1050b (500 watt smartpower...
in this madshrimps review of a sonata II
the reviewer tested with rear exhaust fan only, front and rear fans, internal cowling etc
and determined that
the optimum cooling situation was with the rear exhaust on medium
no internal cowling and no front fan
even for overclocking...
wouldn't argue slk3000b is a good case
(am considering it myself)
but
factor in a decent power supply
and
it is arguably competing with the likes of
sonata II and tx1050b
both of which
offer
fully opening doors
and
fully configured fronts.
re slk3000b:
just a pity that door doesn't open fully like sonata II
and
only front usb not audio/firewire
otherwise
it would go from
good case
to
great case
here is link to madshrimps review of sonata II case where they do extensive temperature checks with 1 fan / 2 fans / with internal cowling / without etc:
the guts is that an exhaust fan on medium and no cowling
is at least as effective a cooling solution
for the sonata II as anything else...
