Looking for an RTS....

"World in conflict" should run on win7, it's not that old. if you want some serious rts action with emphasis on the 'strategy' part, I suggest supreme commander (the "forged alliance" one, avoid supcom2). massive battles and complex technology tree + some serious, hmm, 'drive', if that makes...

as far as I've heard, microsoft is not actually financing the development of that game, they're just on good terms with capy, so it's not a definite "xbone exclusive 4ever, muahahaha". we'll just have to wait and see.

The AMD Mantle Thread

it doesn't do just that. if the oxide slides from a few pages back contain truth, then mantle also greatly simplifies gpu memory management by getting rid of all kinds of legacy buffers and types that have piled up over the course of history, making the whole memory a lot leaner to work with...

Question about game engines and scalability

"every game using this engine will be made for both phone and high-end PCs" simply does not follow from "engine can be used on both phones and high-end PCs". what it probably means is that most of the toolset can be used to prepare content that runs on phones, consoles, PCs, if you wish. there...

Popularity of CryEngine is itself a weird problem, and from what I hear, it's mostly because getting a license to work with the engine is a rather foggy and mystical process, where it's unclear who decides what gives and why. Compare this to Unreal Engine, where getting a license is no problem...

I think that Nolan's batmans are for kids, and this here is the real deal! jokes aside, AA and AC sport thick comics atmosphere, AA especially so. And comics are a special kind of deal - their worlds are almost always brighter, more intense and fuller of contrasts than the factual reality...

AC is more open, you get to glide around a lot more, some say the combat is improved, too. But AA is much more focused and, at least to me, has the superior atmosphere and feeling of batman adventure. AC goes a bit overboard with everything and pays the price. they're both well worth getting...

if steamOS remains as focused on pure entertainment as it currently sounds like, then year of the linux desktop is still some time away. no spreadsheets (or whatever other productive activity), no replacement for windows. still, gotta wait and see for ourselves.

where's the option "neither, both are good"? pure graphics-wise, crysis 3 has a lead over bf3/4, imo, but then again I haven't seen anything like bf3/4 multiplayer on cryengine, so who knows whether it can pull off the same massive scale frostbite games can have.

it's also got trading cards these days, was surprised to see that. and yes, it's pretty damn good. a fairly open world challenging combat-centric rpg with an asshole of a main character and other bigmouths as supporting cast. love it.
