DSL - Will any modem work?

You will be very hard pressed to find an ADSL modem that is not also a router. But like I mentioned above, you can put the modem in bridge mode and use it with another router - provided that you can use PPPoE. If you must use PPPoA, you're pretty much forced to use the router functions of the modem.

You should ask people who have Comcrap in your area. I have heard of cable company ISPs 'locking' to the MAC of the first device that does a successful authentication on the account. I don't think it is too common though. The dd-wrt and tomato router firmwares have the option to clone another...

The multifunction print servers I recommend are the Silex SX-2000U2 (wired), the Silex SX-2000WG (wireless) and the Iogear GMFPSU22W6 (wired). The Edimax PS-1206MFg (wireless) isn't too bad, but printing is quite a bit slower and Vista support is limited to 32bit Vista.
