I need mobo reccomendation

I am in the same boat as you OP. I was looking at 939 mb combo's from Monarch. Retail $149 3000+ & $124 for the Asus A8V Deluxe and you get Napster, FarCry, and Half-Life 2 FREE. They also will load the latest bios. There might be other combo's you might like if not interested in the Asus.

quote depends on the benchmark, but yes, its almost negligable. Aside from that, the 754 is a deadend. I'd spend a bit more to grab a 939 because thats where the roadmap is leading. I've been trying for a 939 but I figure at least $125 more just for the mb & cpu. Does that justify the cost...

First thing I guess is what is your budget? You say significant to me it may mean $500 to you it could be $2000. Did you read this: Buyers Guide - Mid Range or this: System Buyer's Guide There are a lot of guides at ArandTech that can help narrow down your choices.
