More info on my config
So i have 3 SSDs in the 'broken' machine.

Long term storage:
3x 500 gb WD black drives
I was looking more for info about if the CPU is really still a decent single thread option.
The MB still shows a power led but power...
Many years ago I built a decent box for light gaming, heavy workstation use, decent storage and most importantly good audio. This week it will no longer power on so i am looking for advice on if i should chase down the issues or just abandon the box and build (or buy) a new machine.

Need some advice on a new case/build....
In one of my past builds i used Thermaltake V3 BlacX Edition that had a 2.5/3.5" SATA docking station built into the top of the case. I found that feature was very useful and would like to include something similar in my next build. Problem is that I...
i have used task manager, resource manager and all cores on cpu never spike over 80%. i think HT would mean they really wouldnt ever hit that level.
The dev env are a mix of win xp and win 7 running visual studio. Each is used to do builds for specific clients and my main dev is done on my...
already running 2nd SSD dedicated for VMs. As far as the vmware feature you are talking about, what exactly is it?
OVerLoRDI: Thanks for the recommendation and agree dual is not cheap however if i am gonna spend a grand on new mb, cpu, ram combo what is another 700 for an additional...
Need some advice to see if i am wasting money before i make a move to upgrade my current machine. My current machine is primarily used for work but i occasionally do some light gaming. My job requires me to run about 3 or 4 virtual machines at any given time with VMware workstation. Mostly so i...
I had problems with my build and finally broke down and called tech support. I was getting a solid red led BOOT_DEVICE_LED that would say on and nothing on the monitor not even post. Video, ram and cpu all seemed to check out via LED feedback.
I was going to RMA board but he insisted that i go...

In regards to my MB: will it allow for the full capacity of the SSD?
So i am fighting off the urge to upgrade my entire system. I figured i would simply upgrade to an SSD to gain some performance in my current setup. I did research and decided to get the OCZ Vertex 2 120GB. I was trying to get an idea of what kind of boost i would get and came to find out i might...
I did a 3ghz clock so nothing earth shattering. I didnt up the voltage and while i am stable the temps worry me a little. I guess i should pay attention to the CPU temps and not the individual core temps ?
I normally always apply too much thermal paste and never really know until i swap out...
So i have a q9300 with AC Freezer 7 Pro inside a lian li v2000 case with fans. I decided to up the overclock today and my temps worry me even at idle!
CPU idle = 48-51c
Prime on cores = 70-82c

i recently purchased a dell e6500 laptop with 128gb ssd. The ssd is kind of a waste in the laptop since i use it less than my desktop. Is there a way to move it to my desktop?
I want to get simple smaller case than what i have now. I want to be able to swap hard drives in and out and i stumbled on this at newegg. Has 4 hot-swap sata drives behind front bezel and internal 3.5 drives also. Anyone know anything about this case...
