PCI Express x1 Video Cards...

No, they're not pretty modfiyable. At least not on any of the boards that ive seen anyway. But if you know of an easy way to modify the slots on a A8N Ultra, im listening... Regardless, im not looking for information on the merits of how to modify a PCI-E slot, im looking for somewhere...

You are correct, any PCI-E card will work in any PCI-E slot. The problem is not the electrical theory, the problem is that the slots arnt easy to modify. So making a x1 slot accept x16 cards isnt as easy as 'breaking off a bit of plastic'. Tbh, it'd be nigh on impossible to do without breaking...

PCI Express x1 Video Cards...

Hello everyone, long time no post. :P Does anyone here know any place in the UK, or in Europe that ship to the UK (preferably the former), that sell a PCI-E x1 video card? Specifically, the X1300 one that was released a while back? Thanks in advance all. :)

Im afriad your gonna have to agree to disagree with me here. The actual nForce4 chipset is still part of the 6150 boards, as a south bridge, the only difference now is that the 'northbridge' has an integrated graphics chip. Its just been renamed. The audio aspect are still seperate ICs...

lol. The audio aspect isnt decided by the chipset, its decided by the extra ICs that manufactueres add. The NF4 chipset, all of them, support 10 USB2 channels. Its upto the manufacturer to decide how many to implement. PCI-E lanes, im sorry your wrong there, you cant have a 3 lane PCI-E slot...

Thinkpad problem.

Ive done some testing on my Z60M. And it appears that regardless of power sceme, if the AC adaptor is plugged in, the noise happens with the touchpad. But if its on batterys, regardless of if its on full performance or maximum battery life, it goes away. Which, to me, would seem to imply that...

Thinkpad problem.

Ive done some poking around, and aparentely its a common problem that doesnt have consistant symptons. If that makes sences. Its caused by capacitance leakage on the video chip, because its clocking itself up/down too fast. Aparentely.

I wouldnt worry about Abits financial state. With the latest BIOS, i find that the AN8 Ultra has very few problems and supports every processor that is currently out or will be coming out on socket 939. So even if Abit does go belly up, which i doubt they will, you'll be fine. :)

It happens wether the speakers are on or not. So no-one's got a definate idea about wether its a problem with the Thinkpad or not?

Thinkpad problem.

Hi. Ive just gotten my new laptop through the post, a Thinkpad Z60M. Im pleased with it apart from a wierd noise it makes. Whenever im copying stuff across my network, thats above 5Mb in size i get a high pitched, but quiet, sound eminating from the laptop. It also happens when scrolling up...

IBM Thinkpads.

According to this second company, the laptop, according to their engineers, does have a titanium lid, BUT, they dont expect stock in till mid January. But on the plus side, at least its got the titanium top. :)
