    need an ATI 9800/Pro suggestion

The 9800pro 128 meg is the best choice of the lot at that price point. It plays the latest games very well, full resolution. The drivers at this stage are very stable. Just finished HL2 at 1280 x 1024, with everything on high. The graphics are tremendous, the game played very smoothly, no...

Spoiler ----You have to go to the other side of the room, opposite the entrance, and get up on top of the bookcase to jump the infr-red beam to get to the control button.

Video Capture or VIVO? Copying home movies to DVD

Most people seem to think that a dedicated video capture card, such as a Hauppage PVR 250 is better than an ATI All in Wonder card, as it has hardware encoding. I have used both and prefer the separate video capture card as it to my eyes provides better quality video. A separate card also...

Burning a DVD at 1x or 2x makes a better copy than at higher speeds?

I seem to be able to burn DVDs at 16x with my Pioneer 108 with very good quality results. I have burned at 12 x, due to the media, and I do not see any quality difference with the 16x burns.

    Computer hardware sellers in Canada

dealsdirect.ca in Ottawa have good prices, and they are not the cash discounted ones that you see in almost all online stores. Not sure about their shipping costs as I live near them. Another local Ottawa store with good prices is Orleanscomputers.com although they have a 3% credit card...

    Motherboard Recommendations

ASUS P4P800 SE. It is a solid reliable board ... I use it with my 3.0 E Prescott. If you aren't going to overclock then you wouldn't need to install the Asus boost utility.

Been out of the loop for a while...recommend a DVD burner...

I have the Pioneer 108. It works great and I have no complaints. The NEC 3500 is a good burner too, and so is the latest LG. For the prices of these drives you can't go wrong.

    Question about Prescott and Northwood

My 3.0 E runs at 47 deg C max temp at stock speeds, which I don't think is too hot. When I O/C, up to 3.6 gig, I notice only an increase of 2 deg. C. I am using the stock HSF in a Sonata case with just one case fan.

Prescott 3.0E Overclocking Update (now with screenshot)

Nice OC .... I have a 3.0e running on an Asus P4P800. I just built this system and have installed the Asus AiBooster, which using presets can adjust FSB by 20% to achieve a clock speed of ~ 3.6 gig. Has anyone else used the AiBooster and just left the voltages as is? My temperatures...

If you have the choice, is Northwood always a better choice then Prescott (s478 or 775), mainly because of heat?!

Prescott processors are fine. Mine runs at 41 deg c and max at 47 deg c, in a Sonata case, with one fan and the stock HSF. My only complaint is that the stock HSF is slightly noisey, I may change it to something a bit quieter...
