USDA does grade *poultry* with letters. My university served "grade B, but edible" turkey for any dish where it wasn't whole portions, such as on turkey tetrazzini day.
Though "grade E" is unrealistically low for even that standard, as A is generally whole bird items, B&C for "ready to cook"...
