Chuckfx, check your local craigslist and make sure the card is working before you purchase it. I managed to grab a sapphire r9 290x for $240 but made the seller show me it was working before purchase. Right now 290s are selling for $190-200 and 290x selling for $250 in Vancouver.
Even for a 1080p @ 120 Hz? The 7970s would be putting up better fps, therefore in a 120 Hz situation, gameplay experience should be better. At 60 Hz, I would agree that the experience would probably be similar.

GTX 590 is faster than a GTX 670, and GTX 480 SLI is faster than a GTX 590.
Therefore GTX 480 SLI is even faster than a 670.
Although the 670 is much quieter and much more energy efficient than running 480 SLI.
I googled Sapphire rma experience, seems to have mixed results, with Canadian users having to pay a fee.
I didn't see any complaints about getting the same card back though, so you shouldn't have that problem, and being in the US, you probably don't have to pay a processing fee either.
If you want to buy new and at newegg, you have some good options, though at $370
Both these cards are on sale right now for $370, use the promo code

GTX 670 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...na&PID=3891137
Both cards...
for 1080p, stick with the 1280mb a regular gtx 570 offers and just find the cheapest one and overclock it. I wouldn't buy an overclocked card unless it was cheaper than the rest.
