just an update - i ended up majoring in math, and have been working in software engineering, mostly at startups!
about the repairs.. if i ask how long does it take repairs to be addressed, and they say usually a few days, can i ask them if it does take more than a few days do i get a discount on rent or something like that?
signing a lease on a new apartment today.. what are some things i should check in the apartment and questions i shoudl ask about the lease before i sign it?
yeah, this is gonna be a huge upgrade :) hopefully it'll last me another 5 years haha.
anyone see any possible conflicts w/ the parts, motherboard, etc.. that i chose?

thanks btcomm1, i found the jumper on the motherboard from your link and cleared the CMOS. Tried to boot up, got repeating beeps.. so i put the RAM back in, then 1 long beep and 2 short beeps. Found online it means there's a video adapter...
so i just tried taking out the video card, then video card and RAM out o the mother board, and turned computer on, and still no beeps.
motherboard or cpu possibly dead?
the computer powers up, all the fans start spinning, hard drives turn on (can hear it). but i don't hear any beeps and nothing displays on the monitor.
i replaced the heatsink/fan because it sounded like it was gonna fail, the fan was having some trouble by the sound

my power supply was dying a few days ago b/c i could hear the power supply fan struggling and making loud noises, also heat sink fan was making loud noises too.. so i turned off the computer for the night. next morning, the computer wouldnt turn on.
i thought that migh be because of power...

i tried using EasyRecovery Pro and File Scavenger (as suggested above), but both weren't able to recover any data. File Scavenger couldn't find the drive. The drive shows up in the BIOS but not in My Computer. EasyRecovery was able to see the drive but couldnt...
i just had to do this today after my hard drive died :(
