The problem *seems* solved. I switched out the memory and video card again to see if they were the culprits. It ran fine, through things that always froze otherways. I put one stick of the original memory back in (hyperx) and it froze in the same process. It *seems* okay now with my crucial...

I remember being in safe mode, the problem did NOT occur. I'm starting to believe its a os/software/drivers problem now too. It's either that or the motherboard. I ran the SiSoftware Sandra burnin test again and it didn't freeze up at all. This implies most of my hardware isn't the problem...

Why do you think the Sun will rise tommorrow.

The biggest problem I find with science is the basis of it all. It's just been guessing and seeing if it is correct, and observations throughout history. To me, science should be able to explain everything. It shouldn't need to be created off of how our world is but our world should...

I mean my cpu temps, I have higher case temps than that lol. I have a cheap water cooling system so I usually get between 28-33C

I did try with one of the sticks and I also put in a old kingston 256mb ddr2100 and it still froze. I'm not sure about what numbers are good for the powersupply, but I've used it for a quite a while on my previous system, has been pretty reliable. I can see all the voltages from my mobo...

btw 450 W PS NSpire I also ran a burnin test from sandra overnight a few days ago and it ran fine thru it and didn'[t even get that hot, was under 34C when I woke up.

Thanks again, I have it all running. Unfortunately the northbridge fan needs to be replaced. Apparently a lot of people have the same problem with this motherboard, the fan makes this bad noise when turned on, but when i put the case to the side, it stops. I'm going to try to replace it, but...

hmm well I was looking at the picture in the abit motherboard user's manual and it seemed like the screws were supposed to go thru the retention frame, motherboard AND backplate into standoffs. I had a swiftech heatsink before which mounted KIND of like this so maybe I assumed too much. i...

i think u misunderstood me, i meant just having somewhere to screw in the retention frames on the side of my case. I kinda typed quickly so sorry about the wording, and I have built a few pcs before, all work fine, just not used to the new socket
