I recently had to swap out the motherboard on my wife's computer with Windows 7 Ultimate installed. To my surprise the OS loaded, detected and installed the new drivers and worked perfectly after that. I did have to re-activate Windows, but I had anticipated an extra 3-5 hours reinstalling all...
I've got Vista Ulitmate and Windows 7 Ulitimate. They're about the same.
I think on high end machines it really won't make much of a difference. But on lower spec'd machines like netbooks, Windows 7 has a clear advantage.
This is a follow up to a post I made a few weeks ago where I said Vista still sucked in order to gain attention and perhaps some help with my problem and elicited responses from many a forum troll but no fixes to the issue.

I didn't do an upgrade, but I did rely on Vista to install the drivers. The only drivers I installed were the ones for my video card and one for my wireless network adapter.
After spending 6 hours trying to figure out the problem I finally gave up. Just to let you know, I am an IT professional working for a top 5 consulting firm and I do this kind of thing for a living. I have both Vista 64 ultimate and 32 Ultimate. I downloaded my versions from MSDN developer...
