    Just flashed the new BIOS, 903, and it works. A single WD2500KS in SATA 1 not in RAID...a pair of WD800JB IDE with SATA adapters in SATA 3 & 4 in a RAID 0 array and it works like a charm...cold booting, warm booting, etc... funny thing is that both in PCMark '05 and HDtach the tested...

    Nah.. it's too god to give up on--I'd give up RAID 0 before I do that. I just saw a post by someone who had his board come with BIOS 903--just a matter of days (hours?) before the next release BIOS is up for DL...onwards and upwards. This MB WILL do what I want it to do...sooner or later :)

    Driver disk is no problem...just Dl from ASUS and/or nVidia. Some of the stuff included is buggy as hell (for example, the Windows BIOS flash utility) and/or has been updated and is ready for DL at the ASUS site. The included CD is bootable though and can be used to recover from some BIOS...

    Don't install nVidia's IDE drivers.

    For whatever it's worth... I benched the latest nf4 IDE drivers vs. the MS drivers last night with my WD2500KS SATA 2 HD. HDtach reported 100% identical burst and sustained performances but the MS driver had slightly better CPU utilization (1% vs. 4%) I'll try a "real world" benchmark tonight...

    I agree 100%. I'm a bit of a quiet PC freak as well. I use an Antec P-180 case with a Seasonic S12-600 for the quiet performance, have all fans running off a Zalman fan controller, have replaced the stock GPU heatsinks with a pair of Zalman VF700 Cus, etc. The stock CPU fan is the loudest thing...
