Please recommend photo printer for large prints...

rushing stream I saw yesterday

I agree - A bit busy of an image. I would try converting it to B&W -- I often do this when my images are too busy, and sometimes I get good results. Also, I would try for a non-conventional angle - the stream (more of a brook, really) looks too small and overgrown to offer up the 3/4...

Different lenses may have different performances - it may just be that your 17-55 has less sharpness. Generally, for testing, I will do this -- Find a focus chart or just get a newspaper. Set the chart/paper on a flat surface. Mount camera on tripod and look down at about a 45...

Was it smart to buy 2 lens's instead of getting cheaper lens's and better bodies?

Bodies come and go - Good glass is forever. That said, the 100-400 for events is just ludicrous, unless you're talking about *sporting* events in good light :-) Way too slow and honkin' huge to lug around indoors at a wedding, etc. Seriously, event lenses? 85mm f/1.8 17-50mm f/2.8

Just like martensite said -- Kit lens is pretty soft unless you stop down to around F8. That being said -- THe kit lens is still MORE than capable of taking great photos. Want proof, from someone with a hell of a lot more skill than myself...

So far I'm absolutely digging my K20D. Awesome controls, great IQ with lenses (I have 55-300, DA* 50-135, 16-45 f/4). Autofocus seems faster than my K200D, but I haven't done any actual testing. Autofocus starting delaying around EV5 and below. EV6 and up it's great.
