solaris 10

The only great thing I can say about Solaris 10 x86 is the ZFS. ITs a great file system and very easy to use its feature set. That being said, the x86 kernel is slow, and the hardware and software support is lacking. The Sparc kernel is much faster but still limited in off the shelf software...

Vista RC2

If you don't activate in 30 days it will go into the new limited mode, and it is very limited no features, work, mce....the key is free if you get a passport account. I would be running RC1 if the hdtv support worked correctly, here's hoping RC2 fixed this.

Finally! Firingsquad reviews the VF900 with an X1900XTX as the test card.

Quieter, a little better cooling wise 5-9 degrees off of stock. Did not do much for the overclocking on that card, although they did not talk about any voltage adjustments for the GPU.

I have to dissagree. When you have that many transistors you don't start over each time. I don't have access to the white papers and don't code at that level but I think they are similar..ie coding ticks used on one may work on others. I realize the R500 has variable shaders and such, but it...

What if you have conductive paint from your athlon xp days, and you have a multimeter for the PS1/PS2 modding you did and a universal cooler from your last video card...but I do agree with you if you have to buy all of it get the 1900.

My point was based on the hype MS piled on Oblivion leading up to and after the 360 launch. This IMPLIED that Bethesda was focusing their coding efforts on that platform. From this I deduced that if you were coding for platform with an ATI GPU you would get to know that type of coding better...

I would not use that as proof yet. A few more sm 3.0 games and I may agree but basing that opinion on a game that was cross-developed on a console with an ATI GPU is too premature. Again this may prove correct, but the facts are not in yet. I do agree with the price argument.

Poll: What would the price of Physx card have to be

It needs to be on the graphics card, in the GPU or on the MB before I would consider it. I don't think it needs to waste one of my slots and bus bandwidth. If it is priced like the sound chips I think they can create a market.

Is it worth it to buy pre-overclocked video cards?

I am in the exact same position as you. 6800NU to a 7900GT water cooled. I plan on buying the best deal I can find. Right now since none are in stock, that is hard. I am leaning to Leadtek but that is personal preference.

Are there any DCR TV Tuner cards availible yet?

Cablelabs, the ones that certify the cable cards, said a few months ago they will not certify equipment unless certain levels of drm can be garanteed. This implies the only whole systems will be cable card 2.0 certified. I hope you can pull them out but vista can easily check and if you are...

7900GT Choice for OC?

Is it logical to assume that the GPU's from the companies that are just selling one 7900GT model are more likely to overclock than those that have different speed grades? My goal is to water cool, volt mod and overclock a 7900GT, to that end my asumption is that companies like MSI, Biostar...

Overclocking 939 motherboard with AGP

I have the DFI and cannot really recomend it. It seems to have lots of bugs. ITs the first motherboard I have had that I cannot upgrade the bios, or I get cold boots.

Whos sitting waiting for socket AM2?

Skipped 754 and plan on skipping AM2. I fear AMD is losing its edge by waiting this long for DDr2. If DDR2 turns out to be faster/better than the second socket that uses it will be worthwhile and will get my money. Another good reason to wait a little longer is the first chipset for a socket...

Will a ENERMAX EG301P 300w ps be enough for my pc?
