This makes sense, but assuming it's right, you'd think NVidia would consider a lower price to get more ppl bought into the tech. I find it hard to believe that they couldn't have done this for $300 and sold so many more units that they'd end up coming out ahead. But I obviously have no insight...
Thanks. Not sure I'd say the 760 is "working." It's fine for Netflix and streaming movies off my server. But it struggles with modern games even at 1080. Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Shadow of War, even No Man's Sky. But I hear you, it's certainly not an emergency.
So here's my dilemma...I've been trying to replace an EVGA 760 SC for a HTPC/gaming PC. Was about to pull trigger on 1070 OC for about $335 (with Fortnite and MH), but this really complicates things. I have a 1080 in my main gaming rig, so I don't need top of the top for this one. Do I try to...
Interesting...I have some spare SSDs, including a 480gb SanDisk Extreme Pro. I should throw that in there for games instead of using the spindle drive. Thanks!
Lol you're right...but I must have stuck gold with their QC, because mine is still going strong except for some random accidental double clicks on the back button. But that issue is enough to get me to look into replacing it. I want something with a similar feel and similar number of button...
Thanks. From what I can tell, the 1070 is 20-40% better/faster (sorry if those aren't precise terms, I'm just looking at benchmarks online) than the 580. It's also more expensive, but I'm willing to spend up to around $350. I also haven't used an AMD card since ATi stuff in the late 90s...
My son likes No Man's Sky (I know, he's the only one), which lags the most. The newest Tomb Raider also lags during outdoor scenes. Shadow of War as well. Basically anything with long draw distance and detailed outdoor scenes.
My MMO7 from 2012 is finally starting to die. I know I'm one of the lucky few that got a good one that held up this long. I love the ugly damn thing. It's perfectly customized to fit my hand, and it has the perfect number of buttons in all the right places. I've been searching for a...
Thanks. Won't those prices be way above 350? Or are you suggesting that prices of old models will drop one the new cards come out? Either way, if it's just next week for the announcement I can wait for that, but then it's at least March before release, right?
I'm looking to upgrade from a 760 (this one) for my 5-year-old HTPC (build thread and part list here).
I do some light 1080p gaming, but nothing insane. Games are starting to lag at 1080p even on less than high settings, so I need the upgrade, but I'd prefer not to rebuild the entire system...
