i got this toshiba deal a couple weeks ago when it was the same price, brought it up to 1gb and it is being used for the same stuff you said your dad was doing and it is fine for that, actually the new celerons arent all that bad for basic use, but i agree you definitely want to upgrade the ram...

i was at the ann arbor location yesterday and got a bunch of little stuff dirt cheap, and grabbed a couple windows vista basic upgrades for $40, will probably stop in monday and see what they have left at the 95% off haha i dont expect much, but doesnt hurt to check.

Acer 15.4", Turion 64, 1GB ram, dl DVD writer $499

actually the graphics on the acer are ATI Radeon 1100 yes its integrated but of the integrated graphics it is one of the better ones, comparible to the geforce 6150 graphics on alot of the laptops now, which is also integrated.
