God damn it, I found the solution. RA2 is not compatible with processors which are hyper-threading, even if hyper-threading is disabled. It would be nice if Westwood has put up a disclaimer about this or put out a patch, but NO.

When I open either of the applications, the splash image appears, the screen fades to black, then the computer returns to Windows. I have the latest version of both games.

Time to round up those illegal aliens (from all countries) and deport them?

I vote no, as illegal aliens do the dirty jobs (for less than minimum wage, I might add) that no one else will.
