HTPC/Media server

What kind of remote will you be using with this out of curiosity? I'm still shopping around for one that's similar to the tivo peanut if possible.

Anything I should know before building an HTPC?

My only problem is that this would be for the bedroom, which is connected via wifi. Not sure how well HD streaming would work over that connection. Debating on trying out some powerline adapters as it's just not very feasible to run a wire.

Anything I should know before building an HTPC?

Just did a quick search and found this thread. Since comcast doesn't want to give me another price break I'll be returning my HD DVR. I was looking at the Ceton USB tuner w/ 4 feeds. Anyone have experience with this? Any recent htpc builds with pricing I could borrow? Any cheaper recommended...

Network monitoring software packages

Another vote for Orion NPM including the netflow & sla analyzers. Works for us with about 30 devices in our core and about 200 deployed. Can toss in another 30 windows boxes. So roughly 260~.

Slow internet at work

Where are you that some synchronous DSL or even business class cable wouldn't be a better option? Maybe even entry level metro-E?

Need PSU advice for nvidia 570 & 260

I ended up using that little PSU calculator that is floating around, it pointed to roughly 700W. I picked up the Thermaltake 700W, for the $100 kinda wish I had gotten modular plugs like my existing Antec. Specifically: Thermaltake TR-700P TR2 BRONZE 700W since it has enough 6pin connectors for...

Recently added a four-legged member to the family

I also recently picked up a little 4 legged friend. She was out in my front yard getting drenched and starving. She's stuck wearing that get up till the abscess on her left front limb heals up. Hoping antibiotics do the trick.

Need PSU advice for nvidia 570 & 260

Currently have a 650W Antec running my 260 with a quad core and a few drives without any problems. I also have an older probably 8300 to provide video for a 3rd monitor. I'm looking to pull out that old 8300 and make the 570 my new primary card, I know both cards require quite a large amount...

They've started to pull away from the source material quite heavily to appeal to the masses. This has caused alot of unnecessary stupid shit, Shane should be dead already and this love triangle bullshit needs to end.
