OK I finished some testing on Friday and here is what I found.
I am doing it all with clockgen to up my FSB to find the best results. I am on 1.24 BIOS
My Basic BIOS settings are
FSB = 219
HTT = 4x
Mem at 166 Voltage at 2.85
Mem Timmings at 2.5-3-2-8 1T
CPU 10x startup - cpu-z reports...
Thanks I will have to look at the numbers next time the cover is off. I would really like to have the safety of having it monitored. I might have to get a different fan. Although it is nice and queit.
If you have no interest in SLI look at the MSI K8N Ultra. At stock speeds mine has been rock solid and a very nice board. I have a few overclock issues right now but so do the DFI side of things. Overall it is a good running machine and is so far cool even with mild overclocks.
Also it would seem the NvTune is wrong as well. I assumed it would be correct since they make the chip set. They just base the divider on the clock feq not the actuall CPU speed.
Ok I understand what your saying now.
I am still kinda new to some of this and the AMD64 makes things a bit trickier.
Also I get different values in software too - like between Nvtune and CPU-Z
The only way you might have a performance gain is if the device was faster then the IDE interface. A DVD or CD drive is not even close to the bandwidth provided by IDE. And yes you can use any of the 1-4 for any SATA device.
There might be some differance on cpu ussage between the two but I...
You have 8 SATA ports on the board. I believe 5-8 are for raid only but I am sure you can use any of 1-4. So unless you have more then 2 hard drives you should be fine.
BTW - there is no performane gain on a dvd burner using SATA. The cable setup is better but IDE works just fine for a DVD...
Yes I would normally agree but have had some post problems where I can overclock much higher in windows and the same settings in the BIOS will result in no post.
