got it working. i just plugged in both the SATA HDD and the IDE HDD. worked like a charm =D. thanks for all the help!

problems have arisen. i previously thought my current HDD is IDE, it is SATA. so instead of using the old HDD as slave, i used it as master on my newer computer. Tried to boot it up, windows just won't start. the BIOS recognizes the HDD, but it just won't go into windows. i start up my...

i just need to get the files from the HDD and then either toss it or use it as a secondary HDD(40gb). wouldn't there be driver issues though? also curious as to whether or not i could use it as a slave drive instead of the primary to extract files.

no, the hard drive is not dead. the power supply from the computer has died. im wondering if i can take that hard drive and put it in my newer computer without any problems.

I have a harddrive from my early 2000s Dell which has died. Would i be able to swap out my current HD and replace it with my old one? Would i be able to set the old HD as a slave and retrieve data from it? Yes, i have the necessary cables to connect the old HD to my MB. Thanks

Buying different ram

i currently have 2gb of crucial ballistix. im upgrading to 4 gbs of ram and wanted to get 2 more gb of crucial but have been hearing shady things with crucial. is it alright if i mix my 2x1 gb of crucial with 2x1gb of gskill?

i can't watch videos on youtube with fullscreen. it comes up as a gray/white screen. is this supposed to happen?

Westinghouse L2410NM vs. Soyo DYLM24D6

well i bought this. no dead pixels. and i get the humming when i adjust the brightness below 98, but that is easily fixed by adjusting the settings using CCC, so i don't know why people are complaining so much about it. going to hook my wii up to it later and test it out.
