Have you considered just making the 15 year payments on your current 30 year loan? Just make sure to specify extra principal. You may not get much lower rates anyway and this gives you the flexibility to make the increased payments or not each month.

For those who ride

Years ago, I used to be afraid of an 80+ year old in a big Buick; now it's a 16 year old in a Mustang on a phone. More and more though, I ride only on country roads and I'm increasingly a fair weather rider.

I know exactly how you feel; I'm at that point too. I've been riding for over 40 years and at the end of every season lately, I think it might be time to give up the bike. I've had all sorts and sizes of road bikes; right now a 6 cylinder Goldwing. There's no shortage of stupid out there...

Many of the newer battery powered studfinders have this feature but the power has to be on to detect it. They sell for around $20.

I5 2500 cpu fan start and stop after 3 sec with no beep

With the i3 installed, see what version the BIOS is and go to the motherboard website and see if it supports the i5. If not, use the i3 to update to a newer version that does.

LSI Raid 6 question

The controller has probably marked that drive bad after seeing that it's marked as part of an array, and rebuilt or is rebuilding your array using one of the spares. That red LED will stay on as the drive has been marked bad by the controller. Are you familiar with the 3ware CLI? you can view...

Can this Dell be saved? How can I keep it alive with upgrades?

Yeah, it's going to be hard to beat that deal for the money; upgrade the RAM, add your SSD and you're done. I'm running a similar system with exactly that CPU and it's really quick for general use.
